This is despite the fact that China has not been involved in any serious battles since the early 1980s when it faced off in a brief skirmish with Vietnam. America has far more ships and warplanes worldwide, but in just under 20 years, China has created the largest force of submarines and amphibious warfare ships in Asia. According to Business Insider, China says it spent $98.8 billion (Rs 4.80 lakh crore) on its military in 2009, although analysts estimate spending may be more than three times that amount. In comparison: United States: $663 billion (Rs 32,22,180 crore) India: $36 billion ( Rs 1,74,960 crore) China's Air Force: 470,000 personnel, 2,556 jet fighters, 400 ground attack jets. In comparison: United States: 329,638 active personnel, 2,132 fighters India: 170,000 active personnel, 1,440 aircraft (approximate figures) China's Naval Force: 250,000 personnel, 66 submarines, 27 destroyers, 52 frigates. In comparison: United States: Aircraft carriers: 11 Dock landing ships: 12 Cruisers: 22 Destroyers: 60 Frigates: 27 Submarines: 75 India: Total Navy Ships: 175 Aircraft Carriers: 1 Destroyers: 8 Submarines: 15 Frigates: 12 China's Strategic Missile Force: 100,000 personnel, 140 nuclear missiles, 1,000 conventional theater missiles. In comparison: United States: 5,200 (approximate figures) India: 80-100 (approximate figures) China's ground force: 1.9 million (19 lakh) personnel, 14,000 tanks, 14,500 artillery units, 453 helicopters. In comparison: United States: Tanks: 9,573 Helicopters: 6,417 India: Tanks: 5,000 Helicopters: 848 Little is known about China's cyber-warfare programmes that may give it an edge. China recently announced the existence of the Blue Army, a government-sponsored cyber warfare unit similar to those launched by the US, the United Kingdom, Australia and Israel. Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 These figures include tanks and aircrafts of 1950-60s vintage.Plus there is no way of verifying the real ability of the chinese made weapons which are atleast a generation or 2 behind Europeans Russian and American weapons. The Indo-Russian treaty which includes the clause that Russia will come to India's aid in case of a war on Indian soil forced China to satay away from India in 1971.When they were trying to open another front with India and help the Pakis.They were alomost ready for the war before Henry Kissinger and the Nixon administration told them about the Russian angle.....making them scramble back. Chinese wont go for a war,they havent done that to the Vietnamese,Taiwanese,Indonesians and Cambodians.............They simply dont have the guts.....they act like bulllies....when confronted they go back. India has always said that they dont want numerical but technological superiority over China.........For Eg......a Typhhon or Rafale will have 12-1....or even 15-0 superiority over the chinese J 10bs.........while the Su 30 MKI will have 2-1 superiority over the Su 30 MKK..........etc etc etc ..........plus the Americans will not want to lose their only Anti China weapon in Asia.............

desi.boy Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I wouldn't call myself an expert on the subject but whatever little I have managed to gather in my research on geopolitics' date=' people tend to overestimate China's might, while Indians undermine their own power.[/quote'] exactly, india just got to build more bases and recruit more soldiers along the china border, nobody should doubt indian army's might which is among the best 4 in the world. with growing indegenous defence manufacturing (the 5th gen fightaircrafts, 2 tier-ABM system, submarines, missiles etc) , human resources(population) to recruit for the army, it will only grow stronger n self dependent. to enhance pride, I would really want our nation to do well in global sports like soccer, tennis, rugby, olympic sports like boxing, wrestling , track n field events esp 100 m sprint. continue to do well in kabaddi, cricket n chess. Leave the indoor sports like ping pong, gymnastics, badminton for the chinease.:cantstop:
