maniac Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 The reason I said Greame Smith was a surprise is because I always thought that he had a very good technique good against pace and bounce His overall performance against England shows that he has a pretty good technique against the moving ball as well as Traditionally English attack has always had swing bowlers who are really good at exploiting their home conditions and the top 3 batsmen of any touring team have the toughest job,so going by these observations,I would say Smith,Dravid and Langer also considering the amount of runs they scored.

The answer is obvious - barring this series, SRT did pretty well in England. Before this series, he averaged 62, and Dravid about 65.. Dravid performed upto his average and SRT did not. And a possible explanation is, Dravid came with match practice from WI, and SRT just turned up with some net practice.

Also to add...SA,Ind,SL and Aus conditions might support swing bowling from time-to time,the instances of those are not to frequent and very difficult to organise and analyse

Yes, I got that - I just wanted to see how the tourists have performed as compared to the ones used to conditions.

Sreesanth, Nehra, RP all had their success in SA due to swinging conditions.

Dravid had a very poor series in 2007. 126 runs in 3 tests. Also, Dravid had that mammoth series in 2002, while Sachin has had a consistent run. Even this time around, Sachin floundered atleast 2 100's.
