Precambrian Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Yet another example why he will never be an all time great despite his amazing numbers as a batsman in my books. Current series 4 innings 58 runs @ 19 He just freezes against good fast bowling. Always struggled against Aus and Eng. Made merry vs weaker attacks like ours, Bangers, Zimboks, NZ etc.

Chandan Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 lol if kallis is not an all time great' date='then so are ponting and dravid[/quote'] So Dravid's 3 tons vs England in England just 3 months back were against some really poor attack according to you? Btw, this thread is about Kallis. If you want to discuss about Ponting or Dravid, open separate threads!

Precambrian Posted November 19, 2011 Author Posted November 19, 2011 have a look up on Kallis record against strong bowling attacks of his time.
Chandan Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 No im just fed up of people trying to bring down the greats just after a poor series And what are you yourself doing?
saneindian Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 He's entitled to have a poor series after such a rich vein of form in the last 2-3 years. You don't score 20k+ international runs by being poor against quality bowlers. He's scored 11 100s against those same bowliing units, how can you dismiss those numbers? He's a true legend of the game and will remain one even if he doesn't do much in the rest of his international career.
carnish Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Kallis has 6 or 7 centuries against us and has performed superbly against zimbabwe and bangladesh... thats the only reason for his great average.. he has never done well against australia and even against england he has only a few commandable performances... its only the recent west indies weak side that he got some good scores otherwise he was pathetic against them too
rahulrulezz Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 As if Sachin broke all the records in last English tour!! WhileEnglish players were scoring centuries for fun, Sachin looked like a schoolboy in our last English tour. So stop being jealous of Kallis n appreciate a legend. P.s I remember in our RSA tour where ball was swinging like a banana, it was only Kallis who stood like a tank between our series victory over RSA. We just couldn't get him out
Trichromatic Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 P.s I remember in our RSA tour where ball was swinging like a banana, it was only Kallis who stood like a tank between our series victory over RSA. We just couldn't get him out Or simply he single handedly denied rank # 1 team a series victory. :winky: As if Sachin broke all the records in last English tour!! A thread about a batsman is incomplete without mentioning Sachin. :cantstop:

zep1706 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Kallis has been a top performer. He was the only reason we didn't win the series in South Africa early this year.
Andrew Peter Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Oh yes Kallis was the one who denied us the first series win in SA but are we a strong bowling unit?
bajrang Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 kallis is great but nothing compare to greame smith, kallis bring his "A" game against weak bowling teams, smith makes best bowling side kneel before him.
rahulrulezz Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 Oh yes Kallis was the one who denied us the first series win in SA but are we a strong bowling unit? So u agree that we didn't deserve to be ranked 1 with a pathetic bowling line-up n only England, RSA, OZ actually r the only right candidates cuz they have strong bowling lineup.
rahulrulezz Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 kallis is great but nothing compare to greame smith' date=' kallis bring his "A" game against weak bowling teams, smith makes best bowling side kneel before him.[/quote'] So I guess Smith is better than Tendulkar. Smith doesn't come across as a tailender in English conditions like Sachin
Raghav_12 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 So I guess Smith is better than Tendulkar. Smith doesn't come across as a tailender in English conditions like Sachin Yes, a tailender with an batting average of 54-55 is not that bad. Isn't it? http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/35320.html?class=1;host=1;template=results;type=batting By the way from where Sachin came in discussion in this thread?
zen Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 I guess, with Kallis having a higher avg than *cough cough*, the guns are aimed towards him now by *cough cough* :P
