Vijay.Sharma Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Just listening to the commentary and a conversation between Arun Lal and Sunny Gavaskar. Not verbatim but close enough... AL: Sunny, I liked your comment on a recent TV channel about the difference between the 83 WC team and the 2011 team SG: Oh yeah! AL: But tell me what is the logic behind it. I mean how did you decide that the 83 team were better looking. After some conversation stopping events, the convo starts off again and Sunny answers SG: You see the 83 team had - Srikanth- he acted in a Tamil movie, Gavaskar - he acted in Hindi and Marathi movies, Amarnath - he acted in Punjabi movie, Sandeep Patil - he in fact acted in a lead role in Hindi movies then break AL and me: :haha: SG: Then Kirmani - he acted as a villain, Shastri - well although he didn't act he dated movie stars. AL and me: :haha: SG: So you see the 83 team had movie stars who played cricket. But the 2011 team didn't. Dont get me wrong the 2011 team are all fit fellas and they have million dollar faces (camera shows Dhoni) but they are not movie stars. AL: But Yuvraj acted in a movies me: SG: But he was a kid at that time...that doesn't count Second part of convo... AL: (still laughing) I am trying to imagine you running around trees and singing songs SG: Oh not just that, I had to lift up the heroine as well. It's from then that I had my back injury! Me: :hysterical: The other day ppl were talking about Indian commys being no good. Sunny is still there...he can still crack you up.
Number Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 :haha: one good thing about these flat tracks in tests.
CoverDrive Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Sunny is a guy who is really in his elements in a Comm Box - really comfortable and can chat up nice stories and anecdotes. He sometimes pains you when talking about cricket and some of his theories
akshayxyz Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Tomorrow he will be back to his usual self - milestones and landmarks, esp SRT's.
King Tendulkar Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 It was so funny. Sunny is easily the best indian commentator by miles. So relaxed and at ease. Great cricket brain and superb in banter and jokes stakes. When doing jokes and banter actually enjoying and naturally doing it, other indian comms fake it when trying to be funny
Yoda-esque Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Gavkya can be really articulate when he wants to be
Pagalpanti Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Except for his whining about how T20 cricket has spoiled players, he is good to hear.
Desi Cartman Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 So for a change gavaskar didn't talk about records and uncle lal didn't mention any animals... I'm surprised Sent from iPhone using Tapatalk

achilles Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Sunny Sir is known for his anecdotes and sense of humour. Good one from SG :D

akshayxyz Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 ha ha. haa........... Just read it. Kept on ignoring it for some time assuming thread is about Sunny Leone? TBH - it was just a matter of time, before I was expecting someone to mention her.
Dravid_TheWall Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 There is definitely one person who played world cup final for India who can dance and could be a top bollywood actor if he wanted to.
