Can't blame Ajmal for chucking. It's up to ICC to enforce the rules and make the tough calls which ICC has never done. IMO they let Murali get away with blatant chucking and opened pandora's box as far as bowling actions are concerned. Now they can't tell likes of Ajmal "we let Murali get away with it but not you". They should have let the chucking no-ball rules stand as they were. I seldom agree with Hair but he was spot on when he no-balled Murali for chucking.

well deserved. but the players ranking do look dodgy,not because of him,but Hafeez above Zak n Steyn?????

Zak has not played a one dayer since the world cup final and Steyn is fairly average in limited overs cricket IMO. Hafeez has bowled superbly since the start of the world cup.

Don't know about a one-off delivery but on the whole he clearly chucked, and as time went on his action deteriorated as he knew nobody could touch him and even his pretense of bowling with a straight arm went out of the window. Ajmal is nowhere close to him but he chucks nevertheless just like Akhtar used to as well. ICC shouldn't have gone down the road of "15 degree angle" thing. What good is a rule which can't be enforced during the game??? As for Murali and Akhtar's excuse that they had a "deformity" ICC should have fallen on rules in other sports, i.e. in golf you have to walk and can't use golf cart no matter what or in olympics a runner can't use motorized/robotic limbs if they were unfortunate to be born with a disability. They could go and participate in special olympics and that's about it. Life's not fail and you can't make exceptions coz that would be unfair to others which was to other teams and batsmen facing Murali.

If he is, he is the best part timer in the world. Jayawardene and Sangakkara are excellent players of spin and have not found it easy to score against him. I'm not saying he is a better bowler than Steyn or Zak but his bowling is a huge asset for Pakistan as he is in the team, mainly as a batsman.

Oh ok. By the way I never saw him bowl leg-spin whenever I saw him bowl. maybe that was one of the gimmicks Ranatunga and SL board used to make their case as in... "Your honour how can Murali be a chucker when he can bowl perfectly well as a leg spinner". Would have been great if ICC had countered with "in that case maybe he should become a leg spinner" :haha:

Because ranking calculations consider your match figures, eco, SR, wickets and overall effectivness in match and not the factors like "looking great", "excited prospect" and"feels threatening"...

The reason why the likes of Zak, Steyn, Ashwin are not there in the top 10 is because of the number of matches they have missed. If I am wrong they dock 1% of total rating points for every ODI missed. Afridi that ways, was smart. He announced his retiremet, hence didn't lose points for missing matches.

AFAIK your opposition and match results also makes a significant impact in your ranking... so Hafeez performance vs better ranked team and Pak winning matches will help him a lot as compared to another team bowler having personal stats better than Hafeez but his team loosing from low ranked opposition...

Yuvraj shits on Hafeez in terms of his batting ability but i genuinely think that Hafeez's is a significantly better bowler. Fair point about Jayawardene but Sanga's recent form has generally been good.

But can't it work against the bowler in many cases? I think bowling too fast considered the reason for Kumble's failures abroad in his initial days.
