Number Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Yes sreesanth screwed his chances but it has nothing to do with dhoni not being biased,He played him as his last choice ,I have given you many examples showing how he has different standards. more- P.k averages 60 in india and still gets backing from captain as if he has done well where has he has struggled in last 2 years in odis,Ishant has performed worse but is in the team ,Also we all know our captain preference for rp singh.So please dhoni is no saint. you along with many people here back Ishant , but when Dhoni does that hes wrong. :--D

CG Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 PK was our best bowler on the last 2 overseas tours he played in - in England he was one positive in the tour. Nothing wrong with backing him. RP was brought in to replace zaheer because of his form in the last tour. Once he was found wanting and unfit, he was sent packing back to the domestic scene. Ishant is one case where everyone got it wrong. He has all the ingredients to be a successfull test bowler yet manages to mess it up. Has age on his side and thats why he got an extended run, which I now believe is over. The problem is that everyone wants many chances for their favorite players and the ones they dont like to be immediately dropped. But once a player gets in the team, he should be given a decent number of chances to prove himself not chucked out after a handful of poor performances. Sometimes players are given chances despite not playing very well based on their potential. Rohit Sharma for example - averaged in his 20s despite many games and was kept in the team for his talent - patience that is paying off now. As i said in odis he has been struggling in india and odis in general for some time averages 50 in last 2 years ,But he is assured of a place as dhoni feels he is great.Dhoni has been known to back rp singhand with out team management approval ,selectors would have not sent him ,It is not just about giving chances but allowing your favourites in the team to do whatever they like and get away with it where as others get punished.Its never going to help you in team sport and dhoni is facing the consequences of his attitude.

So giving all rounder tag and expecting him to come good with bat every time is silly. Yes he helped us save a test if not win. He has good head on his shoulders. He doesn't bat recklessly like Zaheer. But his running between the wickets leave a lot to be desired.
