rkt.india Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I only saw the first day but he showed signs he might be a discovery. If we don't get hung up on him being short :giggle: How short is he? Even Umesh Yadav is short, around 5'9"
MCcricket Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Pont and Pringle are bowling coaches for Haryana,Rajasthan and u can see the difference in the results as well as new bowlers being tried not the same tried tested failures.DDelhi , Mumbai need some of that, Umesh is atleast 5 10", that is close to Marshall who was 5 10.5", it is the skills, pace, swing, that matters, even Waqar was shortish.

MCcricket Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Umesh Yadav is exactly 5'11. My friend has met him personally at Melbourne' date=' he and Rohit Sharma and 2 others were going to a night bar in Melbourne after the match when he met them. I will post some pics here too, give me a couple of days. But, Umesh is not even an inch shorter than 5'11. You can judge that when he stands alongside MSD. He looks bit taller than MSD[/quote'] That is what i MENTIONED EARLIER IN MY pOST Umesh is atleast 5 11", Varun a bit taller then him, Dhawal Kulkarni is very short and in my books not int class or even close,he bowls 120 to 127 k,worse then most int trundlers.
Needforspeed Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Any news about Pawan Suyal injury and when is he likely to start playing again? Really disappointed about his injury. Was looking forward to his performances this season. Has good potential, but another short guy.

Same speeds. Just that Dhawal is better batsman than VK and VK is better bowler than Dhawal

Was looking forward to his performances this season. Has good potential, but another short guy. Rkt can tell you about Pawan Suyal latest. He should have info. But, there are many others to look out for in the upcoming domestic ODIs, who are taller as well as quick. Manpreet Gony, Rahul Shukla, Param Parmeshwaran, Anwar Ahmed, Harshal Patel(U-19 WC player, he is also tall and was bowling 135-140 in U-19 WC but didn't take any wickets) and there are many many more who has potential.

This is very good news. Coz I can clearly see the difference in the performance change of Rajasthan and Haryana bowlers. Both are in the semi-finals cos their bowlers are performing (earlier they were not)
Needforspeed Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Pont is one of the most respected coaches of fast bowling in the world today. I dont think he will be available for a full time job, but at least the Indian board should appoint him as our bowling consultant. If BCCI is serious about its plan of having an inventory of 15 pace bowlers, Pont would be the perfect guy to work with them and hone their skills.

It is highly unlikely after that atul sharma debacle
Needforspeed Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 BCCI might not do that or any other board. It is highly unlikely after that atul sharma debacle Maybe you are right. Pont's record is otherwise excellent. He is highly regarded by ECB. The Atul Sharma episode was really a mystery. Maybe it was a genuine mistake by Pont. He has too much to lose by creating a hoax.
ChanaLal Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 BCCI might not do that or any other board. It is highly unlikely after that atul sharma debacle Pont had finished a 6-month stint up to the WC where Bangladesh won 10 out of 14 matches while he was running the bowling section - the best in their history. Before he went there, and after he left, the bowling fell apart. He clearly has an instant impact as he has had with Haryana. The Sharma business from what i can make out, what not of Pont's doing and the player just disappeared. While Pont is professional and visible, Sharma is nowhere to be found. I think tells us all we need to know. Sounds like Sharma used Pont to gain fame and then hid when he was found out. The fact remains that Pont is likely the very best fast bowling coach according to what I can find on the internet, and a good thinker [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmIViyziTmE]COACHING METHODOLOGY - YouTube[/ame] I found this ^^^^^

I have seen Ganguly from a very short distance and he is exactly my height --- 5'11". Dravid is the same height as Ganguly and Umesh is the same height as Dravid. So he is around 5'11". Both Umesh and Aaron look a bit shorter than they actually are because they have a longer torso and shorter legs. Additionally, Aaron has a large head. Both are about the same height.

Sir john Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 New Sensational Gujju Seamer-Harshal Patel bowling well http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-domestic-2011/content/player/390481.html
Needforspeed Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Mumbai Indians have Abu Nechim, Rahul Shukla, Pawan Suyal and Harshal Patel. Other than Abu Nechim, wonder how much chance the others will get during IPL 2012? Same thing with DD. Yadav, Aaron, Pathan and Dinda.

He was in 2010 but he got injured then.
