Bur batting skill is regressing. Temperamentally new breed of players are midgets. Tecnically also poor. M Vijay used to be a decent batsman. After he started cowlashing has become rather poor. Bowlers might benefit. Batsmen... i have my doubts. We might cut a sorry figure if we pick batsme based on IPL performances. Thankfully they haven't done that yet. Otherwise Uthappa, Yusuf Patha, Saurab Thiwary would be playing tests.

so true but we have only selected people based on fc cricket thats good and batsmen are coming.. bowlers too are selected only from fc they just come o limelight by ipl

Yes Deodhar Trophy match. Yadav was already in the reakoning for India selection when he played his first IPL. Right about Rahul Sharma..Abu Nechim has been totally ignored by selectors till date inspite of his good FC record.

Nice thread:two_thumbs_up: The right way to judge the importance of IPL would be to see how many players from our side would have never made it large (pun unintended) if it weren't for the IPL. From the top of my mind: Raina, Ashwin & Yusuf Pathan. Thats 3 from the 15 in the WC winning side. Good contribution, I would say.

This is what the Mumbai Indians website has to say about him: "Abu Nechim Ahmed was on the fringes of the national team when he took a career best 6 for 9 against Bangladesh in the Under-19s Tri-nations tournament in July 2007. He was also set to take part in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup - a tournament that the Indian colts would eventually go on to win.
