But thats not enough is it? It may be enough as a private thought, but its not enough to base an entire published article on. The standards for these surely have to be higher. As for the idea that "that doesn't sound right.... ", Punjab's coach Vikram Rathore knew after the Saurashtra game that Harbhajan Singh had a problem. I have no problem with people actually investigating things. But if they don't want to do the work, or don't (for whatever reason) want to show their work, then should they insinuate? Basically, they are telling the reader to believe them, that someone else is not a reliable guy. Why should anybody believe what Manjrekar says, especially when there is evidence to the contrary?
Dude, the events and the facts are there for everyone to see. Literally hours before the scan was performed and the injury revealed, Bhajji was giving interviews pushing for his place in the aussie tour party. Anyone who witnesses these chain of events is free to make their own conclusions, which is what most people are doing. I do agree that the the idea thing to do here is to give Bhajji the benefit of the doubt, but really, it is very very difficult to not look at the chain of events and mull about what could have happened.

I am the author of A Cricketing View, and I appreciate the fact that my post was linked at the end of the post that reproduces it in full. Im a little surprised by the reactions here. On what basis is it being said that Harbhajan Singh "declares himself unfit whenever he wants to"? Do you have evidence to show that his doctors are making up diagnoses for him? If you don't, on what basis do you make such a claim? A remarkable amount seems to be suggested about Harbhajan Singh simply because people don't like him. Its one thing to think he's a bad bowler, its another to think he's a cheat (which, if one doesn't mince words, is what you guys are accusing him of doing)? If you think it is Ok to accuse someone of being a cheat without having to provide any proof, would you be Ok if someone did that to you?
we really don't need to have proof to post our opinions and people here are believing sanjay as we know what kind of a person bhajji is and indian players have the history of faking injuries plus non-availibility for a full season for a shin injury is not acceptable...

This is a very common attitude amongst majority of Indians :cantstop:' date=' some of you guys are concluding & assuming things without any [b']proof. :isalute:
we are not assuming and concluding things.... these are mere opinions and we would definitely be glad to know bhajji din't fake injuries however we like to be informed about our players and we willl not accept a player to not sweat it out in ranji's and get selected by playing in IPL without us even showing our outrage about the same

we are not accusing.... its sanjay who is accusing by writing the article... we are just agreeing with his views as a person like bhajji would certainly have responded to such an article had he been really genuine... plus missing whole rest of the ranji season means he wont have any long game to prove his form and then only by bowling good four over spells in IPL will try and get back in the team and that is what we don't want... plus if the guy is so unfit why was he saying that he would like to go to Australia just 2 - 3 days before of selection delaying his scan??

Okay, please read your posts again..also the very same Manjraker was postmortemed by guys here on ICF on some other topic in the past , now he is next to God :winky: just coz he's writing crap against Bhajji. You guys keep harping here without any proof whatsoever, have a field day :two_thumbs_up:
thanks, we will :beee:

If Harbhajan spent half the time on his bowling that some of his hard core fans spend defending him on this DG/Forum we would not be having this discussion. To me his best days as a Test bowler are over. He does not have it in him to compete with the likes of Ashwin and Ojha based on what we have seen of all these three in the last few months. HS can happily double up with his buddies in the IPL for the Mumbai Indian and continue with his quest and earnings there. So long Harbhajan. Team India is richer without you sending down darts.

On what basis are you saying that his injury is genuine? What proof do you have that he did not either fake an injury after the squad was announced or hide a genuine injury before the squad's announcement? It is not just Bhajji, but many Indian cricketers. During IPL, everybody is fit and fine and when an irrelevant tour follows (WI tour this year), they "suddenly" start falling by the wayside injured. Now, is this always a co-incidence? Even at my office, if I start falling sick conveniently at times when workload is at peak, there will be suspicions about my intentions. Bhajji's behavior is certainly suspicious. Manjrekar is bringing up a valid point. Just because you are a core-fan of Bhajji, you seem to be ignorant of how irresponsible and selfish his behavior is.

"On what basis are you saying that his injury is genuine? What proof do you have that he did not either fake an injury after the squad was announced or hide a genuine injury before the squad's announcement?" Im amazed by this question. There is no equivalence between assuming that someone is telling the truth and someone is lying. You have to assume that someone is telling the truth, unless it has been proved that they are lying. In the case of Harbhajan Singh, or for that matter any Indian cricketer, it has never, to the best of my knowledge been established that they fake injuries.

My view on this Bhajji is injured but question is when, has he been playing injured if so for how long.He had a perfect opportunity to rest after world cup and heal any injuries he had and be ready for England series. It is not just Bhajji who is under question.Other players are also there who fall under same umbrella. Sreesanth or sources close to him on eve on squad to down under were quoted that he has fit and raring to go and when the squad was announced the same source close to player are quoted he is out for eight weeks. Now Yuvraj's Mom is coming out and telling the world he will be fit in three weeks. The same person had told the media mind you after he was dropped for third test he was having a very serious health issue( I don't even want to use that word, hearing down that word sends shivers down my spine.) due to which he was suffering for last six months. I can understand if Yuvraj wanted to play world cup and thought he could manage his sufferings but why go to England or play in this meaningless test series considering his health issues. Ishant and his ankle injury and the list goes on and on. The most umbrage I have is why are we hearing from these sources on how soon they will be fit again to play.To some extent we can understand if they are playing thru injuries but common giving dates when they will be fit again is bit too much. I don't blame players and their sources for this nonsense I blame BCCI and its ineptness in dealing with injured players. Pat Cummins was injured and now we hear he out till January but source who is giving out this info is their physio or their medical staff. Why BCCI cannot have similar setup is beyond any imagination. they have the most money and they sure can afford best medical staff and physios in world, these players need proper evaluations on their injuries and need appropriate treatment for those. These players are golden goose who are laying golden eggs for BCCI and it is ready to kill that to have all the eggs at one go with this lack of professionalism on their part.BCCI needs to realize once performance of the team India on field dips , IPL or any other circus events will never be the same.

Thats because even if they fake they arent exactly going to tell us. Its like saying saying no one should doubt Kanimozhi is corrupt unless it is established by court. It may look good for argument not isnt practical.

The article is nonsense Many players in all sports play with injuries and through injuries. They when non important games come up rest or miss them. It happens in all sports. Often footballers and rugby players are injured through whole carrer while playing i.e never 100 fit World cup(rugby, football, cricket take your pick) comes along and have injury which needs addressing. Many play world cup with injury and then after rest or have it addressed. If after world cup player gets injury, then they often rest/surgery straight away and dont play through it. What is the shock that a player will play with injury in oz but if not selected then rest it or take action to repair it. Trust me if Ishant was dropped from oz tour. He would not run to Ranji to play games he would straight away have surgey or rest his ankle. Common sense.

Playing hurt and playing injured are very different, all the players have niggles but when they start playing thru injuries it becomes a problem. To compensate for injured part they tend to do things differently and that directly affects their performances on the field and in short term it might be beneficial for both player and team but in long run it is going to hurt both of them more. The players once their form dips sometimes never get back that confidence which made them good in the first place. The team if it carries an unfit player has a risk of that player breaking down during an important match or tour. The players will always want to play but it is up to the management to be wise and make sufficient plans to save players from themselves.

Many players play through injury. Its a fact in all sports. Many times they play injuried through pressure from manager, many have injections through large parts of carrer to play.

Many times they play injuried through pressure from manager' date=' many have injections through large parts of carrer to play.[/quote'] They play thru injury to finish one match or series they are playing, they do not play thru the injuries for over length of time which seems to be the case here. Who knows how long Bhajji in this case is playing thru this shin injury to his pivot leg and has that affected his performance. In Yuvraj's case it is certain he has been under great pain for last six months and still continued to play hiding his injury. Same is case with Sreesanth and Ishant they have kept on playing.BCCI needs to make sure they give these players proper assurances so that they feel they can heal their injuries and come back strong and be still part of the team. We might lose some players in this process as replacements might perform better than the players who they had replaced but it will be good for everyone in long term.

Funny how the dart thrower had an 'abdominal' injury in England, and could bat and run between wickets in the tests, but would not bowl. Funny also how he also became miraculously fit for the CLT20, was fit before the Aus squad was announced for Ranji, and is injured as soon as he was not selected. Coincidence? I think not. I'm glad the selectors have put this ego maniac in his place and the only way for him now to get back in the national side is to go back and get a few wickets in domestic cricket, but he has made it too large to do that so I can see no way back for him.

He gets "injured" in England after the series isn't going well. Comes back and is ready in time for IPL. He is healthy till the team to tour Aus is announced, isn't included and is now "injured" again. The evidence is all circumstantial, but there is something fishy to say the least.

Bhajji is the true injury faker... he just gets insulted by not being able to take wickets in ranji and was afraid that even he might be thrown out of the punjab team like agarkar was left out of mumbai and therefore chickened out before even the punjab selectors threw him into the trash :--D
