amiret Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 "While opening the innings, I told Gautam Gambhir that if we can show some patience on this track, we will be in for a big one as the wicket is a good one. The outfield is fantastic and the distance of the boundary is only 50 yards," Sehwag said. ICC Law 19.1 The playing area shall be a minimum of 150 yards (137.16 metres) from boundary to boundary square of the pitch, with the shorter of the two square boundaries being a minimum 65 yards (59.43 metres). The straight boundary at both ends of the pitch shall be a minimum of 70 yards (64.00 metres).
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 more match fixing??!! shame on india!!
Number Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I can't believe that you don't know ICC = BCCI. So it's BCCI who makes or breaks the rules.
amiret Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 Or The boundaries are really very small . Maybe even flouting ICC laws.
Serani Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 I doubt Sehwag actually went out there and measure the boundary length.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Or The boundaries are really very small . Maybe even flouting ICC laws. innit, bruv. we should go protest outside the icc HQ...damn those cheating indians :protest::protest::protest::protest:
Magneto Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Or The boundaries are really very small . Maybe even flouting ICC laws. I am sure the match had an ICC-appointed match referee who knows the basic rules.
amiret Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 I doubt Sehwag actually went out there and measure the boundary length. No . But we can trust his estimates , since he has been playing & hitting sixes in grounds like this all his life.
G_B_ Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 dont think it was 50 yards. the stadium capacity was about 40,000 (heard a commentator say it) layed out in a circular shape along the boundary. I dont think thats possible with a boundary only 50
Ultimate_Game Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 It wasn't. It was just Sehwag's way of saying that the ground was small, but it definitely wasn't as small as you are making it out to be by taking Sehwag's words literally.
asterix Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Not as small as Pakis are trying to project it..However it has small boundaries.. I remember Kings XI (Valthaty & Gilly) chased down Kochi's score (This was Kochi's "home ground") and Mahila (Kochi captain) moaning about the small boundary later..Jaddu etc. are experienced on this pitch.. :hello: GB.. Good to see you here..Hope all iz well in WOC..

I keep saying i will visit during a match and then forget.
NareshK Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 The inner circle is 30 yards. If the whole boundary is only 50 yards, it will look ridiculously small on tv. From what I saw, the side boundaries looked the same size as when the rope is brought well inside in ODIs which is around 65 yards.
G_B_ Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 looking at google maps 60 to 65 meters seems to be a fair estimate.
Sehwag1830 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 looking at google maps 60 to 65 meters seems to be a fair estimate. Well it is 70 yards http://www.bcci.tv/bcci/bccitv/community/venues/venue/4eb78abb398ea
