dont think it was 50 yards. the stadium capacity was about 40,000 (heard a commentator say it) layed out in a circular shape along the boundary. I dont think thats possible with a boundary only 50

It wasn't. It was just Sehwag's way of saying that the ground was small, but it definitely wasn't as small as you are making it out to be by taking Sehwag's words literally.

The inner circle is 30 yards. If the whole boundary is only 50 yards, it will look ridiculously small on tv. From what I saw, the side boundaries looked the same size as when the rope is brought well inside in ODIs which is around 65 yards.
