Stuge Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I wasn't particularly responding to your post oH :embarassed:
Blue Panther Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Why do we even have ranji trophy? lets have wasim akram watch some bowlers and select them into the team:yay: He doesn't recommend anyone often. The important point to remember is he took shammi ahmed's name because he was asked abt indian bowlers who could bowl 140s consistently.
Blue Panther Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Akram even said Unakadt was good..we know what happened' date=' Even better, let's take the entire KKR bowling unit into India as he thinks they are the best....:cantstop:[/quote'] He was asked abt unadkat's perfomance. He obviously would say he is a talented bowler. But nobody asked abt shammi ahmed but he suggested his name because he think he can bowl 140s consistently.

He is bowling coach of KKR and just promoting his guys...how many matches did this guy played for KKR even after Akram invented him? the guy just played 4 FC matches and u want him in team becuase he bowls 140+ :hatsoff:

Imran and miandad saw the potential in him and picked him from nowhere. Pace and the potential should be the only criteria to pick a fast bowler. Not his records.

Blue Panther Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 they picked lot of such guys...but not everyone became Legends.. it wont work everywhere and every time Yep, it might not work, but how would you know his potential unless u gim him a chance. Be it abu nechim or shammi ahmed.
bulbul Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Yep' date=' it might not work, but how would you know his potential unless u gim him a chance. Blue Panther Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 there are lot of names like...whom to give chance? you are mentioning 2 names...some other people suggesting even more names... Very few bowlers in india can bowl 140s consistently. Better try them than these useless trundlers.

But nobody asked abt shammi ahmed but he suggested his name because he think he can bowl 140s consistently. Another name Wasim was suggesting for Pakistan was Mohammed Aamer, his off-field events apart he would have been a great bowler:hatsoff: I'm all for selecting really fast bowlers, but just that we cant blood them as such just because someone says he's good..To get into the indian team they need to play a season in Ranji or if a bowler does exceedingly well in a few matches/extremely talented.
Blue Panther Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 ^^^U trying to be sarcastic ? failed attempt dude. I don't know how to convince the typical indian fans that fast bowlers not selected by their record in domestic matches or ranji matches, they are selected considering their potential and pace. One can bowl at pace only when they are young, one bad season or if the fast bowler gets injured it will take months to get back to rhythm and pace. Y do u think pakis have always produced great pace bowlers? its not that they are superior to us, its just they select bowlers lookin at their pace. I dnt know hw to change u people's opinion. I think its just in our minds i guess.

True, I remember Wasim Akram saying in an interview as to how Imran Khan picked him (Wasim) and Waqar on the basis of pace with hardly any first class experience. According to him selectors in Pakistan dont even consider a pace bowler for International selection unless he is bowling at at least 135+ irrespective of the domestic records.
Lord Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 if anyone gets injured,I'd first get Ojha then others, irrespective of the trck
express bowling Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 they picked lot of such guys...but not everyone became Legends.. it wont work everywhere and every time Every fast bowler picked would not become a legend or even decent. That is why a fast bowling culture is required and a pool of fast bowlers need to be maintained. Unless we allow a few failures we will never unearth a true strike bowler among pacers. No trundler in the history of cricket has become a strike bowler. India has given chance to the highest number of trundlers among all countries and hence has never produced a pace bowler with an average of 25 or less in tests ( having taken 100 wickets or more ). So, what is the point of trying trundlers ? A fast bowler may succed or fail but a trundler will almost surely fail unless he has extreme criketing intelligence and can consistently outthink the batsman.
Fontaine Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 I agree with the OP. Irfan should have been selected ahead of Mithun. Australia have a crippling weakeness against the swinging ball and we're going into the series already without Praveen and not fully tested Zaheer. A left arm swing bowler in good form like Pathan who can bat a bit would have been my choice ahead of Mithun.

Then how come all the current Paki bowlers are trundlers?
Rightarmfast Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 there are lot of names like...whom to give chance? you are mentioning 2 names...some other people suggesting even more names... True , not every bowler you give a chance to will become legends. But count the no on ur fingers and tell me how many fast bowling legends have we had ? And its better to try 100 bowlers and then perhaps get 1 world class bowler, than to keep persisting with trundlers and always having a below average bowling strength ! Nothing ventured, nothing gained..My friend !
chainsmoker Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 The biggest blunder made by the selectors is by picking both Mithun and VK. My goodness, how can you be so dumb. And Varun Aaron has lost the opportunity of a lifetime by getting injured at this crucial time. This Australia will only come again in next 4-5 yrs and who knows, he will then be in the team or not. He was so lucky to get into the team for Aus tour this time. PK and all main bowlers are injured. Slow bowlers like VK are the first choice of Dhoni and he will now keep giving chances to VK in tets as well. So Aaron is now far away from comeback

Hope Aaron can be fully fit by the Tr-Series, otherwise he will be soon forgotten by the selectors. Had it not been for the humiliation in England, selectors would not have given opportunities to Yadav & Aaron.
