Ji nahin. A good speaker roughly knows what he wants to say. Why he is saying it. And the intended effect it is to have on the audience all the while establishing an emotional connect with the audience. All he needs to remember are the broad points. The sentences can be constructed impromptu. chup be dumbledor.. I just expressed agreement with Mariyam's pov.... aur aa gaye dravid ke bhakt... Exactly!!! The cultism here is mind blasting :P People, for some reason, find the need to 'defend' their heroes, and can't accept that the said 'hero' could be lacking in any field. The speech may have been well written but the delivery was poor. If people think that is an oration, I'm afraid they haven't heard any good speeches at all. :((

He should have taken some training for the dialogue delivery from none other than SR Gay and added some dailogues like "Don ( bradman ) ko pakadana mushkil hi nahin naa munkin hai" etc to make it more listenable. Any aira gaira nathu khaira can make 3 runs in 453763864964928562430129 overs. No big deal there. Bbbbuut how many bbbaazigars can die for their kkkkiran? :nervous:

The sentences can be constructed impromptu. His speech had quality, balanced and thought provoking content. You must rememeber the occasion of speech too. It was not political rally or business or Science seminar. It has to be serene... You want a T20 (Martin Luther King)speech. It was test match occasion.

Listened to this only because my husband and his friends were all oh Bradman oration this, Bradman oration that, best speech by a cricketer yadda yadda. Honestly, Dravid is a pathetic speaker. He wasn't even speaking there. He was only reading what was written on those sheets of paper. Since when is reading something into a microphone called an oration? Looked more like a failed mushaira session. I've seen weather reporters being more animated. Absolutely no intonation, no eye contact, no zeal when mentioning about career highs, no disappointment when talking about failures, insipid jokes delivered in a monotonous brogue. Put in some emotions Dravid. You are giving a speech, and you talk with as much emotion as one would talk in a sabzimandi. Pretty sad really.:(( He was right about one thing though, his speech really is as boring as his batting. Yam, I am not expecting an Obama, Churchill, Vajpayee or even a hitler speech who was arguably the best I have seen. He doesn't have to meet those requirements. He is not an actor, showman, enterpreneur or a politician. He is a cricketer. As a sportsman, he exubers dignity, honesty, humility, knowledge of the rich history of the game which is all you expect of a sportsman. So, I would say your expectations are misplaced. Anyhow to each his own. Your comparison s a bit like saying well Sachin Tendulkar is not as good an actor in his ads as Sharukh Khan is. Now, there is a reason why they pick Sachin and there is a reason why they pick Srk. Srk is an actor ( not really ), a showman and I expect his comfort in front of camera to be greater than Sachin whose first profession is cricket.
