Despite losing to New Zealand at home for the first time since 1985 in Hobart last week, Lawson said Michael Clarke's men had plenty of reasons to be cheerful, especially in the bowling department. "Although we lost to New Zealand, I was impressed with the way James Pattinson bowled in both Tests. He was terrific," Lawson said. "Nathan Lyon has done well too and Peter Siddle has also been impressive." The first Test starts on Boxing Day at the MCG with world No 2 India looking to record a first-ever series success on Australian soil. And although confidence among the tourists is high, Lawson doesn't think they are as strong as previous years. "They've been talking themselves up, but they play badly away from home, have just been beaten 4-0 in England and were poor," he said. "They have great batsmen, but they are not getting any younger and their bowling attack is not that special, especially if Ishant Sharma is injured." Apart from a few exceptions, I find most of the Aussie ‘experts’ either voluntarily biased, or blissfully ignorant. Was watching some clips of ex-Aussie cricketers discussing the upcoming India series on cricketcrowd.com and pretty much every single of their opinion on India was completely off-base. For example, they were discussing Sehwag’s double 100 against the Windies when Allan Border suggested that the aussies should prepare tracks with help for the seamers and that would sort Sehwag out. You’d think that for someone who is actually paid to commentate on cricketing affairs, Border would be at least a little more informed about Sehwag’s test record outside India. And then there was this guy (couldn’t place him) who was talking as though the Indian pace attack is only a stroll on the park away from completely collapsing in a heap. The only 2 guys who seemed to have atleast a semblance of objectivity in their comments were Brendon Julian and Greg Blewett

He doesnt think high of Sehwag either and was completely dismissing our bowling attack. It was also surprising to see that none of them were talking about Ashwin in that video, they were obsessed with the injuries to Zak and Ishant and how poorly we had performed at England.
Ultimate_Game Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Although Lawson is a bit biased especially since he coached Pakis and was at the receiving end from India, he makes sense in this case as the possibility of Ishant & Zaheer going through the series uninjued and at their peak is extremely remote, and then we are left with trundlers like Vinay & Mithun :hysterical:

So, come the next aussie summer, they are back in their 'Expert' roles and start rambling things that has very little connection to reality. And I agree about the Mark Waugh assessment just by listening to him, you can tell that, apart from Aussie cricket, he does not know much else about other teams and players. Contrast this to someone like Geoffrey Boycott, who follows cricket round the clock, no matter who is playing who. His assessments of players and teams is unbelievably accurate and is one of the main reason why I never miss the ãowl with Boycs feature on cricinfo.
MCcricket Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Hey guys this is usual stuff, they are trying to needle the indians, Mcgrath is the funniest guy in terms of predictions he has a tendency to predict the opposite lol, Waugh is a typical aussie, the people I trust a bit to be rational have spoken, Steve, Ian, Adam,India can very well beat OZ, infact even the locals know that an have betted on India winning.Their logic funny, we can say what if Clarke, Warner gets injured lol, then they have no team lol.Where India lost out to is the selectors folly in UK AND OZ, selecting a very poor backup, Gony, Dinda, Pathan should be the backup bowlers.THIS IS GOOD BECAUSE iNDIANS WILL BE CHARGED UP AND A FULL STRENGTH iNDIAN TEAM WILL BEAT AUSSIES, LAWASON NEEEDS TO SEE THAT IS AGEING PLAYERS ARE FAILING AND INDIANS ARE GETTING BETTER.:haha:
