Bowl Australia out for 300ish. And then hoping for our maharathis to bat for 2 days and pile up the runs. I know our bowlers have always been under the radar for our inability to come up with a win/draw in the first game of an overseas series, but our batsmen were also equally at fault. Last time in 2007, after Australia were 136-0, we bowled them out for 337, but our batting failed big time. Let's hope the same doesn't happen again. No more excuses of lack of preparation/experience, etc etc These guys have been here before and now it's time to step up. B->

the warmup game in 2007 was washed out. most of the guys had their first bat in the test match. different situation this time. i think the opening partnership wil be key. even 40 runs or so would make things a lot easier for the middle order.

Hopefully. Don't wanna see Sehwag lashing out at Pattinson ( remember him trying to blast Steyn at Centurion on a green pitch ). Still remember how Pattinson got McCullum out recently :nervous:

I personally feel the bigger threat, from Sehwag's pov atleast,is Hilfenhaus. Sehwag has always been a sitting duck against good outswingers. Pattinson's abilities were supplemented by the pitch during the 2nd test vs NZ imo. I'm not sure what he is capable of on a sluggish pitch.

one thing thats crystal clear is that it's IMPOSSIBLE to drive on this wicket. any batsmen that drives hits the fielders. the aussies will be better with their length than the indians were, so shot selection is gonna b key. i expect the indian batsmen will look to cut and flick for most of their runs, leaving most of the offstump deliveries alone.

Most of the work should be done by the trio though, Virat first time in Australia and Dhoni in the form he is, we can't depend on them. These 3 should see us through Australian total at least or we're in for a tough game.

spot on and thats what rahul and sachin did today... pitch looks great when the bowlers pitch it up but when they push it a little shot, it just becomes a road...

i think kohli will score some important runs gautam needs to come back in form but still our batting is just so much stronger australia need 400 to trouble them on these tracks!

India are gonna struggle tomorrow morning... dravid will get out early... laxman and kohli will go on for a while but once one of them goes india will be cleaned up early... expecting a lead of about 30-50

If they can play out the first session without losing Dravid or Laxman, Aussies are in for a loooooong day in the field. After that, India can call the shots in this game as the pressure will be on Aussies and our bowlers will bowl much better in 2nd innings as they would have been settled after the 1st innings. But tomorrow is the most crucial day for the test and will set the tone for the whole series. It can go either way. Hopefully the sun shines bright for the whole day.

Looks highly possible...Dravid is struggling for sure, India would have been better off he got out in that no ball and SRT survived, still not sure what purpose a nightwatchman serve ?
