punjabi_khota Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Don't have resolutions but have some goals to achieve this re: fitness etc. Tennis: 3.5 NTRP Running: 10 k Biking: 50 miles.
Rose Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I haven't made resolutions in a while, but this year I promised to enrich my life on spiritual, academical and physical level in a way that will be sustainable beyond 2012. Spiritually I want to explore teachings from different cultures and religions, as well as delving deeper into my own (neglected) religion. Academically I want to finish the BCom degree I'm doing part-time in order to pursue one of my other interests (haven't settled on which one yet). Physically a healthier diet and more varied fitness regime is the goal for now.
f.b.m Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I want to be able to run a marathon this year. Eventual goal is to finish the Mumbai marathon 2013 hopefully in less than four hours.
DomainK Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I will try not to be so visibly arrogant about my devilish good looks.
Brainfade Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 #5 - I thought I was the only one who did that.
Lurker Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 New Year resolutions tend to get a bad rap (mostly). To me, it is almost like getting a second chance. Life is telling you - So you messed up in 2011(and earlier), here is your chance to make amends. Sure you dont need to wait for 1st January for that, but it helps to start the clock afresh (literally and figuratively). It didnt start as a resolution, and actually started a day earlier than 1st Jan, but these days I am in gym earlier than usual. When I started serious lifting (2001 thereabouts), I would be in there around 5 am. Those were the days I would be sleeping on a comforter in a one bed apartment with no Tv, internet etc. Funny how lack of resources keep you honest. Once I started making more money and "moved up" the value chain, I would wake up, check internet, chat online, watch porn you name it. Been there done that. Thus most days I would end in gym at 5:30. These days I am back where I started. Cutting off the nuisance. Still not there at 5, but 5:10 has happened and 5 should happen pretty soon too. Its funny how much you can do in extra 20 minutes. This weekend I gave me a bonus and tried all those stuff for 30 minutes like last year. Turns out I dont miss them much at all. So its not about New year, its about you really. Dont make resolutions you can not keep. And also perhaps make resolutions you can work on every day and not a big long term goal.
Ram Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 ^ 5:00! :omg: I wish i could haul up my lazy ass to the gym in the morning. It is such an awesome start to the day. Plus, if you go to the gym in the morning, you have all of the evening to yourself also.
akshayxyz Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 5 AM!! Most of the time, that is quite close to my go-to-bed time. On the topic: The very fact that it comes to new year to make resolutions/goals is the reason most of such resolutions do not materialize.
Singham Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Girls. girls girls and more girls till i get married.....:winky:
EnterTheVoid Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Buy a BMW - I have been meaning to own one for a long time.
Lurker Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 ^ 5:00! I wish i could haul up my lazy ass to the gym in the morning. It is such an awesome start to the day. Plus, if you go to the gym in the morning, you have all of the evening to yourself also. Actually getting up that early is no biggie really. If you are in the gym at that time you can see how other people make efforts. Single mom bringing their half asleep kids who play in playpen as they jump on treadmills. Or men coming back from night shifts hauling their water coolers, gym is their last act of the day after which they catch their sleep. Or veterans who are missing limbs etc showing up to lift by one hand. It is effing inspirational. Me and you have got it rather simple Sriram. Stop being a lazy bum and get cracking I say lol..and yes you are right nothing like starting the day on such a positive note.

I am going to give this a shot from next week, but 5:00 is still way too early for me. The only reason why i am ever getting up at 5:00 is if my house is on fire. :giggle:
