CG Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 The issue is very simple. 1. Yes, Indians are intimidated by fast bowling, but only when they are on bouncy pitches. They have absolutely no clue how to play on pitches other than flat Indian tracks. 2. Gambhir should be kicked out for now. He has proven himself in ODIs but is severely lacking when it comes to Test Cricket. His attitude is plain wrong out of the gate! He plays a bit timid and defensive and tries to play with soft hands way too often. 3. We are going to lose this series.. BADLY.. 4. What the Indians need to do is convert half the pitches in India to match the pace and bounce of Aussie pitches and practice more on bowling and especially batting on these clayey pitches. As a team, we severely lack the know-how to play in such pitches...because we are too used to playing in flat pitches that have no resilience. 1.We had series wins in england,Draws in southafrica ,australia, srilanka with mostly the same lineup 2.Gambhir has done well in southafrican conditions which were tougher and against better bowlers,Give him some time he will be good. 3.We have bounced back from similar situations. 4-Indian pitches will never be like australi and viceversa and thats the beauty of cricket,we have had our A team and u-19 teams visiting australia, england, soutafrica we can increase the no of visits.
saket123 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 didnt work I don't care if you have doubts about my nationality.. .. I could speak up in tamil, marathi or Hindi for you to believe.. being a south Indian and having been brought up in Mumbai... and if you are that paranoid.. lemme know.

We look like amateurs playing in Australian conditions. Seriously.. the Australian players aren't that good.. But we suck even more at this point of time. We don't seem to have a batting strategy.. We seem to be in a hurry to score runs.. instead of focusing on keeping wickets and milking a certain amount of time before we start to loosen up. WHEN THE OPENING PAIR ARE ABLE TO HOLD ON FOR AT LEAST 15 OVERS... WE CAN GET A BIG SCORE!. We already know our coach is useless and can't expect any inputs of value from him. Our bowlers are not doing too bad actually.. but our strongest point always has been batting and without it firing.. we fail miserably. Gambhir should sit out for the 3rd test and Rahane should play instead.
rkt.india Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 He isn't far off from the reality. Look at someone Sehwag. He has never played with such a cavalier attitude on seaming pitches. Here he just doesn't have the patience. Has had 4-5 catches dropped, yet not made use of the chances he got. VVS , Gauti have had technical flaws being exposed first in England and now here. Well said.
rkt.india Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 If James Pattinson was not a fast bowler, I am sure he would have become a doctor because his diagnosis of our batsmen is almost too accurate to be true. For some weird, unexplainable reasons, our batsmen seem simply to ignore to score. They cant seem to go 10 balls without playing a lavish drive through extra-cover. You can do that and get away with it against mediocre bowling on flat decks, but on helpful pitches against superlative bowling, that is literally asking for trouble. Its obvious that the Indian batsmen are simply clueless at this point TheyÃÓe simply searching for runs. TheyÃÓe so desperate that they simply cannot resist even the mildest of baits. Irrespective of otherwise immaculate innings, the shot Sachin played to get out is like a mini-movie of the troubles that has plagued so far this Aussie again well said. Same thing happened when Broad intimidated Indian batsman last July.
rkt.india Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 even more unfortunately' date='unlucky Isshhanntt doesnt know it[/quote'] You don't assess right...look at whenever he pitched up he went for boundary here. Aussie batsmen have better footwork and not as slow against pace as Indians in coming forward. He has been driven on the similar deliveries Viru, VVS, and SRT got out.

exams Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 he is only 4 tests old and speaking like he is some legend of the game

What are you talking about. He does not have bouncer. He got KP on bouncer. He bowled a hostile spell of short bowling at pata Edena against Amla. He bowled some lethal bouncers in WI. He bowled a hostile spell of bouncers in SL as well rattling Jaya and Samarveera. It is all about planning and tactics. There is no use of bowling short without any purpose which they lack. Captain has not utilized their ability to the fullest. There was not much swing or seam there, but they did not use this short ball tactic here which they should have used with Yadav and Ishant both who can bowl in mid 140s. They needed to put fielders for hook and pull and at short leg and asked Yadav and Ishant to bowl effort short balls at their bodies. All knows how Michael Clark is susceptible to bouncers at his body but they all continued bowling aimlessly. There was nothing convincing about their bowling, no planning. It is captains job to do it. I still remember that Nagpur test when Dhoni strangled Aussies and Ishant and Zak bowled a superb spell with 7-2 field, I thought this is the captain who can out think the opposition team, but unfortunately lately MSD has been going through the motion, has become laid back, stands at one position with hands behind his back. There is nothing proactive. His cool attitude is good, but it does not work always, make it happening by being aggressive that is what needed when nothing is happening, try different things, think some thing. Can you imagine 37/3 and they scored 659/4, rather than bad bowling, it is a sheer case of poor captaincy and lack of tactics and strategies to put pressure and get the batsmen out.
surajmal Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 a bowling plan is developed with the help of the coaches. so where are the coaches in all this?
rkt.india Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 a bowling plan is developed with the help of the coaches. so where are the coaches in all this? Bhai plans are made by coaches and captain, but instant tactics are made by captain on the field. Plans made in the meetings do not always work. It is the instant tactics which they do not have, they do not know where to bowl to a particular batsman, feeding short balls to Ponting rather than bowling fuller around off and not enough bouncers bowled to Clark who is susceptible to pacy bouncers.

But, if the bowlers have a plan and the captain is too stupid to put it in effect, then its the bowler's job to set the fields. I get a feeling that bowlers aren't too bright either because it appears they are going into the game under prepared as clearly visible by the aimless bowling. Take baseball for example, the pitcher has the entire game planned pitch by pitch. If a pitcher fails it is either due to lack of ability or lack of application (or combination of both). These mofos however just appear clueless. I don't see any lack of ability with this bowling group. I just don't see a plan. Zaheer is the exception but he seems to get by on instincts more so than a plan. You can't leave the entire responsibility on the captain. I can't remember the last time this team had a decent bowling coach. Now we finally have some genuine pace talent but it is going to waste because BCCI can't figure out its coaching situation.

But that is coach's job to make a plan and make bowlers bowl to that plan first in the nets and then execute in the match. Make them bowl to a certain length and line, make them bowl to a certain area, mark that area and ask them to hit consistently without dropping their pace. If they can hit that area 4/6 that is good. This is called methodical practice. They do not do it. They bowl what batsmen want them to bowl that does not work when a bowler is looking to trouble the batsmen. Batsmen would want them to bowl in their area where they can hit and middle their shots.
surajmal Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 coaching is definitely one of the primary concerns. I also think these players are bunch of prima donnas who don't like to be told what to do. Ishant Sharma also seems to be lacking a few IQ points. That is the problem really. You can't have an idiot captain and idiot bowlers. You need someone to marshall these retards on the field and dhoni doesn't have the personality or required smarts to be that leader.

vvvslaxman Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 You guys are just looking at there names and saying it's not a quality attack. The fact is they are bowling very, very well and are deserving of the rewards they are getting. Pattinson is going to go down as one of the great fast bowlers if he stays injury free, of that I am sure. He certainly has the skills to back up his talk. He aint all talk. His true test will come against England which is a good test batting line up.
