The iconic Chandni Chowk may be renamed Tendulkar Chowk with the MCD keen on paying tribute to the master blaster by naming a road or chowk after him. Radio station Fever 104 FM has been campaigning for the cause and has announced its gratitude to Delhi Mayor Rajni Abbi for agreeing to the concept. Suman Kumar Gupta, councillor for Chandni Chowk, has decided to propose the renaming of Chandni Chowk as Tendulkar Chowk and the proposal is expected to be placed before the MCD House on January 11. Commenting on the developments, Rajni Abbi on Tuesday said that the MCD has received representations from hundreds of people to honour Tendulkar but no decision has been taken yet. Ţ lot of people have been asking for the naming of a Delhi road after Tendulkar. We will definitely look into the matter when the proposal comes up, Abbi said. Harshad Jain, business head, Fever 104 FM said, ŵhis one is a tribute to all Sachin fans in Delhi. We are thankful to the Delhi Mayor for agreeing to the concept. The move has created a rift in the MCD with some councillors pointing out that roads can only be named posthumously. Hindustan Times

Is it going a little far? Famous places should be left as they are. If they must name something after Sachin, they should find something newer for it. The Mumbai sealink would have been more appropriate.
