IMO he has worked the hardest among all politicians of all parties going to poll this year and he has deservedly got the rewards. The entire SP poll campaign had his imprint on it and even though MSY will be the CM, Akhilesh will wield enormous power in UP. He may be better than his dad in that he knows that people nowadays don't reward politicians unless they deliver (as shown by a clear mandate given to BSP in 2007 after SP ran a Govt of gunda raaj till 2007 and now again a clear mandate given to SP after Mayawati failed to deliver in 5 years - basically non performers are being voted out). So I expect this SP Govt do be much better than the previous SP Govts we have seen in UP............but then again, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely and now this guy has absolute power in UP.

"We all know that exit polls have gone wrong in the past, and this will happen now again," he said, talking to PTI here. Asked how many seats he expected Congress to win, Singh said: "At least one hundred." He added that exit polls could go wrong because of a number of factors, including the fact that they are based on responses of very few. "In a state where crores of people cast their vote, you cannot make any assessment simply by talking to a few thousand persons," the Congress General Secretary said. Asked what he thought of the exit polls' prediction that Samajwadi Party could even get an absolute majority on its own, Singh said, "Impossible." :hysterical:

The biggest reason for SP's mammoth victory was the desire of the people to vote Mayawati out of power and in SP they saw a party that, unlike BJP or Congress, was in a position to form the next Govt so the people voted for SP. Now lets see whether we will have 5 years of Gunda Raaj or SP will actually deliver on its promises. BSP - very, very worrying results for BSP. Its not just the sheer number of seats it lost (over 100) but more importantly, its the dalits voters (the BSP's core vote bank) who seemed to have deserted the party to some extent. Now Mayawati will have to come out of her air conditioned offices and change her high handed ways or there will be question marks on the party's survival soon. BJP - the saying "too many cooks spoil the broth" holds true for UP BJP. First they brought Kalraj Mishra, then Rajnath Singh, then Uma Bharti, then Naqvi, then Narendra Tomar, then Sanjay Joshi - and made all them of them in charge of the elections with conflicting responsibilities. There was severe infighting among these people to gain control and to have tickets given to their own people and this damaged the party. The way forward is to selected one leader (Uma Bharti IMO) and make a completely new organizational team. Congress - Rahul Gandhi has led the Congress campaign in UP in 4 elections (2004 & 2009 Loksabha ; 2007 & 2012 Vidhan Sabha) and the only occasion when the party has done well is in Lok Sabha 2009 (that also was because Mulayam Sindh inducted Kalyan Singh in SP and Congress got advantage of that - no effect of Rahul Baba there also). Maybe its time to come out of the dream that Rahul is "Yuvraj" and focus more on development than on the Gandhi name.

Major parties - BSP, SP, BJP, Congress. Spoilsports - Ajit Singh (RLD), Kalyan Singh, Dr Ayub (Peace Party). Biggest Newsmakers - sadly the biggest newsmakers so far have been politicians with criminal record. My prediction: SP BSP BJP Congress (positions of SP & BSP may interchange but the difference in the number of seats they get will be quite small). Unless something dramatic happens in the next few days, no party will get close to the majority and there will be a coalition Govt IMO. :bow:

Goa will be lost... From tomorrow onwards, Congress will not needs CBI's help to keep Mulayam on track. A mere 'pulling out' the support from the UP Govt. will work.. Mayawati's bad days coming.. Congress will unleash the CBI on her, pretty soon..So that she keeps supporting the UPA on key bills in the Parliament.. u is pwned :--D

Media reached to the SP candidate to ask his reaction after losing. SP workers not only attacked them, broke their cameras and stuff but chased them to one school where the media people are hiding from SP workers. Police, and Security forces are doing nothing. That was 2 hour ago. That included 1 NDTV person. Lot of media people were hiding in the 3-4 bathroooms of that school where counting was happening. They workers were demanding to declare their candidate winner. NOT sure what happened after that.

I have witnessed in front of my eyes how the SP gundas killed a BSP MLA in front of whole crowd in Allahabad Civil Lines.
