+1 also Indian fans are content to win at home, this will be forgotten soon enough, and India will win at home, and everything will be forgotten again. Then we will hear the same stuff, India will travel overseas and get hammered again, and the circle will continue. India will never win away from home, it's guaranteed, have a look at India's overseas record over the years, not good reading at all.

Seriously :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: The amount of excuses some come here up with to cover the failures of our seniors like Sachin Dravid Laxman and Sehwag :hysterical: And now putting down youngsters who arent even given a chance so that to feel good about the failures of our senior batsman. Hero worshiping at its best.

As always...keep on shielding Sachin n co and blame it on young people ...who can never come up in tests...and when you dont let them play in tests...they are bound to play odis n t20...and than we can keep on blaming how they perform in ODIs n T20s and not in Tests... BCCi is doing exactly what fans like you want...Tragedy of Indian cricket

Pitches in India Can something be done in India where the pitches have pace and bounce and provide for both the bowlers and batsmen? It's been a problem for decades now that India as soon as they leave the subcontinent cannot handle the bouncier, green pitches overseas, nothing seems to be getting done about it. There is no attempt made at all in India to introduce pitches where the bowlers can really test the batsmen, especially the pace men. Here in Australia for example young kids start playing cricket on matting, where there is a lot of bounce and carry, when they move up through the ranks they are prepared and know how to handle speed and the ball bouncing about the knee roll. I think every state in India should make a different pitch, for example one state can make a green top, the other a spinners pitch, another that will have pace and bounce. It's not hard but I don't think the fans in India really care, the IPL is destroying Indian cricket and the BCCI seems to be encouraging this and are quit happy the IPL is making them money and they couldn't care less about the GOLD standard that is test cricket. Empty stands in India only show that even the fans couldn't care less about Test cricket, its very sad what is happening. What do you guys think? Can India prepare these type of pitches around the country? So what if India loose a few test series etc at home, at least they will be stronger when they travel overseas.

Agreed. People keep blaming the IPL and CL but the root cause of our problem is the fact that our players are not equipped to handle bouncy pitches and bigger grounds of those countries. In fact none of the Asian countries have done well in Australia/SA. What we need to do is make our grounds bigger and prepare more lively pitches if we are to ever win in Australia or South Africa. The PCA stadium in Mohali has a pretty bouncy track so we should either have training camps there before touring these countries or make similar pitches in other venues to get our players accustomed to the conditions.

I think we need a wide variety of pitches and condition in India, also the fitness of our players really needs to be looked at. India really needs to improve on so many things, it a uphill task really, if you watch the Aussie field the want the ball, they throw themselves around and would do anything to stop a single. Watch the Indians on the other hand and it seems like they don't want to be in the field, lazy, fat and over paid. Compare the arms of the Aussies they can almost throw 80 meters to the keeper while the Indian guys half the time can't be bothered chasing and when they do chase and gather the ball can't even throw it 50 meters.

first test cricket was only popular in some places.. there are many reason why crowds arent coming.. really its been discussed many times over so no need to get there and abt pitches our pitches provide spin, conditions favour reverse swing.. its fair imo just like out guys take some time to adjust when they go to australia ur guys take time to get adjusted for india..look at ponting took him 3 - 4 series to get a ton in india! its not flat.. maybe its flat when our batsmen play who handle spin really well but for teams like england , australia its very hard and abt every state having diff pitches i agree and some of them do have diff nature but honestly there have been some flat pitches like in chennai i remeb.. but most of times they do provide assistance to bowler but in diff way it wont swing much so many bowlersl ike anderson struggle here and there is lack of bounce but u can still get wickets here look at steyn..see how zaheer khan bowls in these conditions another problem with teams touring is most of teams dont have quality spinners so is it out fault that others teams dont know how to bowl in these conditions?

s88, Problem with IPL is not just the "technique". Its about money and luxury thrown around in abandon. It messes with a budding teenager/twenties player's hunger to succeed in a long drawn Test cricket battle - rare exceptions aside.

I've watched a few Australian domestic Cricket matches and overall the standard of Cricket they play is much higher than Indian domestic Cricket. Like the OP mentioned, fielding, catching, throwing and running between the wickets needs to improve. People kept saying Australia wouldn't do well anymore after McGrath and Warne were gone but look at the number of quick bowlers they have now. Pattinson, Cummins, Starc, Johnson, Harris, Hilfenhaus, the list goes on. All we have are Zak and Umesh. Our system needs an overhaul.

So any cricketer who doesnt play test cricket shouldnt earn a good living? India isnt a communist country if u dont know. Its not T20 or PIL fault if test cricket cant generate similar revenue.

50.5 Harris to Dravid, OUT, Dravid is bowled again, yet again! Done in by a ball that swung in and was bowled full, moved in a touch further after pitching, Dravid got across to try to drive it through midwicket, he missed, it clipped the pads and then knocked out leg. He was bowled off a yorker in the first innings by Siddle, but that pitched outside leg and ricocheted off the pads onto the stumps. This one was in line. A promising stand comes to an end, and India will have to start building again R Dravid b Harris 47 (114b 8x4 0x6) SR: 41.22 :(

But look at how Australia has been consistently producing champion players and teams for a long time with a population of 22 million. When was the last time India produced a good express pace fast bowler for example. I'm not saying the Australian system is flawless but compared to what we have theirs is far better.

do really think its cos of pitches? pakistan play in similar conditions and they produced so many bowlers asif, amir were also world class .before that no ball thing happened there is more to it facilities imo are bigger factor in australia they scout talent and then train them well in india u can only make it big if ur exceptionally talented and lucky!

The problem is in India you can only make it if you have contacts, bribe the right people and get lucky. Sorry but the biggest hurdle in India is corruption in every area, I am sure if all those kids living in the slums who have nothing to eat, if the BCCI and sports bodies and the GOI are serious they would pump money into getting these kids out of the slums and into schools, sports academy's and nurturing them. But I don;t really think the corrupt and the fat cats in India actually care, as long as they are lining their pockets, unfortunately India can be so much more, but it will never be, corruption is a a bane on Indian society. Corruption is ingrained into the Indian soul and it will take a massive fight to get rid of the scourge.
