He should come down the order. We need an opener who can look ugly and defend the new ball for a session in overseas tests. He was a middle order batsman in the domestic cricket. it should not be a problem for him.
It may make sense actually. But, we are too late. 1 innings before we move to Adelaide which is normally a flat track in any case.

Shewag just needs a reality check ,He has taken the word which dhoni uses always freedom to new levels and playing with out any care ,he just needs to watch some footage of his previous tours of australia and see how grinded 1st hour and then opened up,

Viru is one of the good anfd world's faster batsman of team India. There are more open with Viru is no point. And I seriously do not want them to come back home because they are here at the opening slot, and then repeating the same story will be successful when we travel abroad.

Anyone who thinks Sehwag is an all time great is fooling themselves. He is an Indian great gbecause of the important knocks he played for even if most of them came in Sub continent. But he is far away from an all time great

I don't think Sehwag will go down as an all time great. He has been badly exposed against moving ball, almost through out his career. His current performances are coming on the back of his record breaking 219 which shows that it's not a problem of form, but problem of competency.

If we can still extract something out of his immense talent then it must be done by moving him down the order. There is no point in opening with Viru any more. And I seriously do not want him to come back to opening slot at home coz he will succeed here and then when we tour abroad the same story will repeat. Most Indians will succeed at home. So Viru's replacement also will succeed...if Vijay can then anyone can. Cull Sehwag from the opener's slot first up before culling Lax or Rahul or Sachin. I've had enough of this irresponsible, mindless batsman opening the batting for us. He is once in a blue moon batsman. When was the last time he scored a century outside the subcontinent?
you hitting nail right in the head... so frustrating..

Can you list Virender Sehwag's 50+ scores on tough away conditions (outside sub-continent)? Can you list Virender Sehwag's 50+ scores on tough away conditions* (outside sub-continent)? This cannot be done with just StatsGuru since that will not indicate if the conditions were difficult for batsmen. So, if any of you recollect such instances - can you list them? Test Career primarily (optionally you can list ODI career separately) *seamer friendly pitches or any other pitch or match/top-bowlers-firing which made batting a tough job in non-sub-continental tours. This is a subjective criteria, but I trust ICF-ers can identify a good or great knock by Sehwag in away tours.
