Once Tendulkar, Laxman and Dravid were a shoe-in for all time greats and were in the debate for being one of the best there ever was, especially Dravid and Tendulkar. But the last 2 series against England and Australia will have a significant impact on their legacy and their standing in world cricket will forever be tarnished. Can anyone seriously consider Dravid better than Ponting, or Tendulkar better than Kallis or Richards anymore? Laxman can't even be considered a great anymore, just one of the good batsmen in the same category as ganguly. The collective failures of these players wil have an ever-lasting impact on their legacy and their inability to walk out at the right time, say like Gilchrist, will forever come back to haunt them.

There was a time a few years ago when SRT was really struggling, with injuries etc. far worse than anything he is undergoing now- and he has been ok this series. RD and SRT are greats of the game, absolute legends. This does not change that. All humans abilities decline with age. Im not sure they have stretched their careers that much longer- Dravid was fantastic in England and SRT has been very good recently as has Lax. Just seems that the downturn for ALL of em has come at the same time

He is either trolling or more likely having a very difficult time (as have most of us) and just frustrated with the team's performance. UG, if a legend is entirely based on the way he performed during the end of his career then 90% of the guys we consider ATGs will never have been considered ATGs. Even Kapil Dev who abused his status and went on for 3 years too many is still considered a legend. I know you are finding it hard to deal with our current losses and most of us are in the same boat. But such drastic change in stance will only make you feel silly about yourself 2 years after these guys retire when you reminisce the good memories they gave us.

What trolling? I am simply calling spade a spade. Pls justify why Tendulkar should be ranked higher than Kallis at this point. I can't. As for trolling, I guess that is what you see the Indian team do in Tests

thye are legends.. did well for so long 2 series wont take anything away from them imo most test cricket lovers have good memories

they will be legends...but they are not as big as Indian fans make them sound like...most of the english, aussies , southafrican, windies , etc already consider them as great as ponting n kallis n lara ...not above them as we Indian put it out... the only change in their respect will be in Indian culture...where youngsters would have lost a bit of respect for them with their prolonged careers coming to a miserable end....and may oldies or ppl who grew up during 90s like many forumers here...will call those youngsters dumb because they play t20 and give more emphasis on winning than any damn statistics...every new player will be called FTBs n mediocre because they wont have technique like Dravid...but these FTBs are being brought up in the culture where you are being made to work hard to Win by any cost... they will be measured by how you perform in T20 leagues ...and all the oldies will keep on bashing the saying...they r dumb****s who doesnt understand Cricket...and are not like Sachin n Dravid....but they will be what the crowd would want them to be... people who are fit who can dive around and catch n field way better than Sachin n Dravid can, people who will play like warner without using much feet but still scoring heaps of runs...

No doubt these are legends. But time and age catches up with legends too. At the end of the day one can only hope that they realise this and go out on their own honorably and are not pushed out. Announce retirement so that people might say 'Don't go' instead of 'Why don't you go'.

Such a collective failure across such a length of time - 8 Tests in Eng and Aus, and that too when you were ranked no. 1 in Tests and World Cup champions will exacerbate the impact on their legacy. Seriously, how can anyone justify otherwise when we have to go back to 50s and 60s to see similar performances!
