I dont understand why Sehwag is now being named the replacement captain. If I remember correctly, Gambhir was always the stand in captain in ODIs in the absence of Dhoni even when Sehwag was in the team.

The ban is not for this match alone. If the over rates are slow for 3 matches in the last 12 months' date= the captain is banned. Dhoni has already exceeded the over rate twice ( Captetown vs SA 3rd Test & Barbados vs WI)

What an absolute load of crap.... Do the BCCI expect the crickeet world to believe this, come on. I have heard some really bad excuses but this is one of the worst. To put this crap excuse up is a highlight of what many have said here about the contempt BCCI have for the game. If this is a legitimate reason, let's consider an alternate scenario... Think objectively when considering this. Let's say Dhoni is captain he oversees days where India consistently bowl 75-80 overs a day but India lead the BG series in Aus 3-0, is he suspended... If your answer is yes, you need to seek immediate professional help. To those saying MSD can't keep, grow up, there is nothing wrong with his keeping. He is not a test batsman and probably not a test captain but the arguement put forward needs to be reasonable, have some factual basis and be something able to at least convince a 3year old. If this is true, India have big isssues. There is not a captain in the side and to be honest if I was an up and coming player in the team on the basis of the often unfair and vitriolic commentary, why would ou want to be captain

You are right. The new regulations say two. Earlier it used to be 3. Dhoni was under threat of ban in WI and England under the old regulations.
