Sachinism Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 After drawing flak from all quarters following India's disastrous performance in the Test series against Australia, BCCI president N Srinivasan came out with a bizarre defence of the team saying all top teams would lose when they play on Indian soil. "England won 5-0 in England. They came here here within a month or two and they lost 5-0. Last time, after our loss to England, I had said that we will beat them when they visit India," Srinivasan said in defence of the team's dismal overseas performance in the past one year which has seen Dhoni and Co lose seven consecutive Tests. Srinivasan reasoned that Australia did well as they used home conditions to good effect. "It is a case of Australians played better in their home conditions," he added. The BCCI president who is also the owner of IPL team Chennai Super Kings feels that once India plays and beats teams like New Zealand, England and Australia in the coming months, everyone will "feel very happy." "Next New Zealand is coming to India and it will be followed by England and Australia. We will beat these three teams on our own soil. When the team's captain goes on record to say away games are practice for improving skills in home matches and it's best batsman prefers to sit in Neeta Ambani's pallu rather than sweat it out for the country in a test match, how much can you blame the administrators? Yeah, everyone knows that the BCCI is full of imbeciles, but it's not that our players have got any pride left either.

It's good in one small way though, it hurts the opponents not winning in India :cantstop: Anyway if home pitches are flat our opponents should bat well too right? Not our problem they can't play spin well.

I still lay more blame on the administrators. The players may play for the money, a way of earning a living. But as an administrators have more responsibility. BTW any link on the captain saying away matches are from improving skills for home games?

Just look at the margins of defeat vs Eng/Aus - its enough to :(( Teams we mock Bangladesh, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, They've recently played against England and Australia and they've faired A LOT better than us

ItÃÔ (going abroad) just to improve your cricket because 80 percent of the matches you play in India. Å¢ll these away series are there to improve you as a cricketer. What else can you expect in a country where the Chautala brothers rule over the Table tennis and Amateur boxing federations !! Brace yourself for another decade of mediocrity. Only individual brilliance can save us as it has done in the past.

Win a series at home 1 or 2-0 and get whitewashed away.

Our away performances have been humilating of the highest kind. Watching us in England at the grounds, I was so embarassed. However, we have to do what it takes to win at home. Anyway this problem runs a lot deeper as you say. I remember the deadly kanpur pitch. Bhajji said in an interview after, he doesn't get many wickets as there are not enough spin friendly pitches like kanpur :cantstop:

Win a series at home 1 or 2-0 and get whitewashed away. Disagree. Under Ganguly/kumble/dravid we we doing well abroad despite home pitches. This humilation abroad goes beyond understanding. It may even impact home performances unless we change captain/coach and players.
