Its the same Sachin Tendulkar who signed millions of sponsership deals when his previous generation of cricketers struggled to have a decent income.So its laughable to say they get de motivated by younger generation making money when they benifitted by the same system. Just because test cricket cant generate money to match T20 or IPL doesn't mean T20 specialists shouldnt get paid good money.This isnt some communist country. Cricketers like Sachin Dravid and Laxman earn far more times than an average footballer.Does that mean we should blame Sachin for the state of our football team? I also blamed Shewag too.Frankly Dhoni has been criticized for his captaincy and i dont expect WK to play winning innings.Though he deserves to be criticized for his failures in 2nd inns of Perth for his pathetic shot selection. Gambhir deserves some slack though.He was outstanding in both New zealand and South Africa and was ravaged by injuries in England.And has done decnetly for a new comer in Australia. this thank you for using common sense also ipl hype,fame is temporary u dont get contracts from ipl (ads and all ) which gives like 10 more money to indians
Manny_Pacquiao Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 the IPL isnt responsible for india losing in australia, but the long term consequences of pimping the IPL are there for everyone to see. and indian cricketers, unlike those from other countries, dont have the option of skipping the IPL. the top indian players are 'icon' players. that's the key difference...so when it comes down to prioritizing, guess which format takes precedence. its funny how the media still doesn't speak about its impact on younger cricketers. too many vested interests.

They were unable to score runs that lead to their downfall and Indian batsmen are always like that. It happened In 2004 too and Australia won at that time as well and we lost at home soil. There was no IPL at that time and IPL cannot be affecting only Indian players, players like Watson, Warner, Sanga, Kallis are all doing very well. Rather than accepting that our ATGs have passed their sell by date and Viru is an FTB, has always been, and Gambhir has been in poor form for a long time, we are blaming IPL. This will not solve the problem. WE were not winning and dominating teams overseas even before IPL. Problem is bigger than just IPL. I don't think he is an FTB, more of an STB because he has scored runs on tricky pitches in the subcontinent.

Viru too used to have his day..Just wait and watch how Warner gets found out in couple of series.. It's not fashionable to blame IPL. It's REQUIRED to blame IPL as much as possible. Public pressure and high expectancy motivates players to perform. If the uneducated public pressure is only only on players to do well in ODIs and IPL, players too will give 2 fecks to real cricket, whcih is Test cricket..It's not about technique etc. Events like IPL etc. removes the focus from real cricket and rockstar cricketers make merry, think themselves as rockstars and giving 'flipped bird' when they face informed and educated crowd (nd not chewtiya, crazy, gullible, adoring public back home).. If grand ignorant oldies think only test cricket is the only real cricket then its their problem.Its not younger generation or Indian fans problem some oldies or NRIs are still stuck in stone age.

This is the problem right here. Your attitude says it all. Test cricket is the pinnacle of cricketing achievement. Spin it however you want, the fact will not change. So the problem is people like who delude themselves and think everyone else too should be stuck in stone age like u. And u book a separate bathroom for 3 months during IPL so that u can cry all day long.

Thats fair enough.And thats exactly the point i am saying.Every one has their preferences and people choose which gives them more pleasure as ultimately sports is for entertainment. I like all 3 formats even if my favor is ODIs.Heck i watched more Ranji matches this season than some of these NRI who preach only test cricket matters in their entire life.So dont give me this crap about u dont watch test so u arent a real fan or u dont know what test cricket is. Branding of fans who like IPL or who dont give a damn about test cricket as some ignorant folks and portraying only those who care about only test cricket are Real fans is sheer stupidity.

A so called top ranked team falling to the abysmal chasm is not a coincidence. The present team has the "ability" to lose to Bangladesh on those wickets. I watched the 92 and 99 Australia series ball by ball ' date= and even when India lost heavily, I never felt India were massacred like the last two tours. But this time we were beaten to a pulp. Even an average player like Manoj Prabhakar had much more grit and ability to tough it out on those wickets, compared to the present day IPL generation stars. True, India didn't play this badly in 1992. We, in fact came very close to winning Sydney and Adelaide, and India did chase 372 in the 4th innings at the Adelaide valiantly, and were 283/6 at one point of time before they folded up for 333.
