You decide who was picked on potential and who on performance. Nechim is picked based on those 2 5-fers and hattrick he took and then he bowled in virtually a one man attack. I dont disagree with what you are saying about Mohanty. It was just a general comment. If he had not taken those 5-fers, he would not have been anywhere near the East zone team.

But you do need to give chances to guys picking wickets in Ranji Trophy irrespective of whether he is a trundler or a beast. Warna Duleep Trophy ka kya fayda. They picked Abu Nechim on potential' date= couldn't have picked another pacer purely on potential. Picking wickets in the Ranji trophy has been of little significance when considered as a tool for picking good testl bowlers. Many great Ranji bowlers have done nothing in international cricket and very few have succeeded. Only players who have a realistic chance of succeeding at test level ( as this is a longer format match )should be choosen in Duleep Trophy.

Not much chance for Nechim to go further. Also, Dinda will take at least 2 more so wickets will get divided. I hope Sreevats Goswami gets a hundred. Another brave young wicketkeeper from Bengal.

And how do you know if a guy is not good enough for test cricket without letting him play at a level higher than the Ranji level? Also based on the bolded part, why dont you try suggesting how the East Zone team should be? or perhaps the teams from all 5 zones?
