He may be right ' date='but his timing is absolutely wrong .When you're losing like minnows you better don't speak .[/quote'] +1 thats what i am also thinking...even if some one asked he can just simply skip that queation.. when we call others Sore losers or whiners we also have to look into our players talks..

The pitches in the New Zealand series of 2002-03 were some of the worst I've seen. But you did not have the team come out and say things like "Oh let them come to India, and we should prepare rank turners". These pitches haven't even been remotely like rank green tops and we have the team come out and threaten the opposition with rank turners in India. Yeah, play to your strength and prepare pitches that assist spin like England and Australia prepared pitches which assist pace bowling. But at the end of the day it should be a good cricketing pitch like these 7 have been. I certainly don't fancy watching cricket on a rank turner where Michael Clarke can run through a top class batting line up or Tuffey looks like Hadlee walked on to a cricket pitch again.

Problem is Indian batsmen had taken these two series for granted. They were not aware of what English and Aussie bowlers could do and were living in the past as they did well in 2006 in England and in 2007-2008 in Aus in most of the matches, but conditions then especially in Australia and bowling from both sides has improved too and our batsmen could not adjust to that bowling. Their reflexes also had slowed down. Look at most dismissal of Sehwag, Dravid, and Lazman, they have been beaten comprehensively for pace on most of their dismissals. Dravid has been late in coming forward on straight fuller deliveries while Laxman has been having poor timing and edging the balls, Sehwag looked clearly in awe of the Aussie fast bowling. Clearly, these are signs of slow reflexes and failing to adjust.

It they had played at Hobart, they would have struggled to cross 100 with the way they have batted. They have completely forgotten the art of leaving the ball especially Gambhir, Sehwag, and Laxman.

Hadlee also did bowl on many greentops on his day.Pitches the world over had flattened out 2003-2008 and now we are seeing pitches getting some juice so it is becoming a shock to many batsman,But pitches in india are still flat we need tracks which turn but not bad pitches like mumbai as its the only way for good tests in india.

Rank turners like rank green tops make a mockery of the skill levels in cricket at the top level and you see top class batsmen struggling to put bat to ball against mediocre bowlers like Clarke. That's not what test cricket is supposed to be. It's supposed to be played on pitches where both good batsmen and bowlers can achieve success with application and technique, not where the game turns into a lottery. I am not against pitches which assist spin, but "rank turners" are not the way to go.

Teams are now back to making pitches to suit themselves. They were a few years like pointed out above when pitches all over the world were getting flat. In fact England (2011) even used a batch of Duke balls from 2010 (which were swinging more than normal), kept specifically for the India series. The reflexes of all top 4 Indian bats (incl Sehwag) has slowed down and is only likely to get worse. There is nothing wrong with using home advantage, but there was no need for Gambhir to shoot off his mouth . Just do it when the Poms and Aussies come here.

Gambhir said. "So once the other teams come home we need to prepare tracks to our advantage as well. So there should not be a lot of talk when Australia or South Africa or England come home that we should not be preparing turners.
This Coward is talking as if we have never prepared rank turners at home. This is what we did all through the 90's . And we played 3 spinners in most tests at home. Did we not prepare rank turners against SA in 2000 ? Why were we thrashed 2-0 at Home ? What about against Aus in 2004 ?

Nothing wrong with what he says. The absolute flat roads we have been playing on at home (barring a few decent ones) do not help the team. Regarding the sporting tracks in Eng and Aus, they were clearly designed to help the home team. Cook in an interview last year had said how the ECB had made sure the team got the kind of tracks it wanted to play on during the summer. Same with the Aussie curators in this series. If they get pitches of their choice, why should the Indian team be deprived of it. In the last 4-5 year, the only pitch that can be termed as a rank turner was Kanpur track vs the Saffers and that produced gripping cricket. Need more such racks for our home series. For our domestic set up though, we should look at producing pitches of all varieties to give our younger players a balanced exposure.
There is nothing wrong whatsoever in preparing pitches that suit your strengths. However, for this guy to come out and say these things after he has been a total failure in England and Australia (along with the rest of the batting line-up bar Dravid in England) is absolutely pathetic. These pitches have not been so tough to justify seven consecutive failures by these losers. Anyway, its been over two years since Gambhir made a Test century either home or away - that miserable statistic is what should be worrying him more.

Gambhir said about Peter Siddle.. "He made his debut in Mohali. He played really well in that Test series. It's [these are] his own conditions, it's his own backyard. The important thing is once you start doing well in subcontinent, that's when you are rated as a very good bowler.
So siddle has to perform well in the subcontinent before he can be considered a good bowler. But Gambhir is completely oblivious to his own miserable overseas record. Indian batsmen have become worse than the fans , they have overdosed on their own Hype for too long and now are incapable of thinking clearly.

Nothing can be done if you carry players who r in late 30s and ask them to play in fast bouncy tracks when their reflexes are poor. Players like Gambhir have serious technique deficiency which he should address instead of talking like this. Attitude of some of our players are really pathetic.Bring back dada as a selector or coach. He is the only person who s got the guts to walk the talk.
