South is a bit different, you may have to live to experience. Its kinda like India a bit, more rural. People are always helping. Neighbors are nosey too :cantstop: always asking about you.

That's what has kept me in this place for so long. I just love MD/VA for that.

South has been one of my favourites. The only issue is, if you are in a heavy bible belt, not being a Christain can become an issue. I was in a University town, so that did not hurt.

Lots of green, climate is generally good I thought. Lots of good eating places and tons of cities within 5-6 hours drive. Man, I have spent 6 years in two of the heaviest bible belt places - Arkansas and Tennessee. Loved it. Cant say ever had any unpleasant experience, not to say they dont happen. Where did you go to school?

They always wanted you to come to their Sunday evening church bonfire. But, after you politely refuse a couple of times, they let it go. They are not offended. Even the kids in suits on bicycles who come to spread the word are always polite, professional and respectful. They leave with no fuss when they realize that you are not interested. Unlike the Jehovahs witnesses and others who are looking to pick an argulment. In my experience, they are the most upstanding, steadfast, family-oriented, hardworking, professional, respectful, no-BS-whatsoever folks. And Southerners rock! I've lived in the South the whole time I've been here. Never heard a racist comment directed at me, never had a "Christian" problem. I would never make the mistake of voluntarily moving to the NY/CA/NE areas.

As a matter of fact, I worked for a religious professor. But in general, people coming to your apt. and talking about bible and stuff was more.

Only once did a Jehovah's witness guy pick an argument. Otherwise they politely leave. Heckuva lot more pleasant than the desi Amway nutjob. So, Auburn, huh? Cam Newton fan?

Spent some time visiting friends in Huntsville and Birmigham. Visited Auburn just a couple of times, impressive campus though.

Some Bama fan poisoned it last year.

We had some peopel who would travel every weekend for that and get some free stuff. It was impressive for them in the beginning but later the craze faded away. I am fan of Cam Newton. But they went 13-0 my first year at Auburn, Hence a Jason Campbell fan too.

Everybody would talk about it. Plus, I stayed very close to Stadium so a lot of tail gating. Fun Days. I wish some time I move there. Nice place to raise a family.

Just like there a lot more freeways and better freeways here but in Aus they all look pretty, the walls are painted, roads are better, a lot more sign boards for even a 5* bend, people actually drive within the speed limits and here its all different. Its not bad but just different. BTW people may not ask how you are doing but will address you as Sir, thats different from Aus. People feel almost offended when called Sir in Aus :cantstop:. I am sure that its just Bay Area.. there will be other cities where people behave differently. Its not bad tbh and Im getting used to it and in a way Im happy that I dont have waste time in the small talk with every other person.
