I have watched Dravid bat from that day at Lords in 1996 when he was caught behind on 95 trying to square cut a wide, short one (he's left most of them alone since; on that day he was batting alongside Prasad) until today when he never really looked an international class batsman. I will be sad to see him go. I will admit I never admired his batting, never watched cricket because of him, never thought he would achieve as much as he did because of his lack of talent. But he made up for that through sheer determination and courage. And for that I respect him. Ok, 'nuf said, time to move on, bring on Rohit Sharma and the rest...

I know he has to go as well but he didn't look too bad to be honest. Averaged around 40, looked in good touch. I do think once he gets the monkey of his back he'll play more freely. To blood in 3 youngster at same time might not be a good idea in test cricket. Also unlike Dravid and Laxman he's been decent while fielding and running between wickets. His form in CB series will be key though, if he continues to struggle there as well then questions might arise.

NO RETIREMENT... He said on channel 9 this morning that he has not made a decision and that India (and he) has 7-8 months until the next test series so no rush to make a decision right now..... He needs to make the call now if he is going to give the administrators the chance to ready someone and build their confidence not 5 minutes before the next series.... He can keep playing cricket, you don't have to retire from all forms at once

I don't want to hear it. I hope I am sleeping that time and I hope I wake up when he has retired already 2 years ago. I don't want to be in that moment where we all are talking about his career, legacy etc I grew up watching him. I love bowling and am a bowler, he didn't make me want to bat, but he had that class in him, to make me support TEAM INDIA. He played games after games without any injury and kept winning for us. Team used to be down and out, but he used to be the last man standing there helping the team. HE BASICALLY IS AN EXAMPLE OF - DON'T LOSE HOPE. Always trying to fight it out. Miffed with reports that its senior players were contemplating retirement after failing in the Test series loss to Australia, the Indian team management rejected the speculation as "baseless" and refused to answer queries on the matter. India were whitewashed 0-4 in the Test series that concluded and the senior batting trio of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman were heavily criticized for their poor show. Their flopshow, in fact, led to speculation that the three could bow out after the series. But the team management rubbished the rumours. "The team management categorically denies this. Reports about senior players retiring are baseless," said team manager GS Walia in the post-match press conference. Walia refused to answer questions on the matter, saying that there was simply no truth in the reports. India's stand-in skipper Virender Sehwag, who addressed the media after the match, also rejected reports of senior players' retirement. "Some reports have said that senior players will retire after this series. No such thing has happened and this is a decision that they will take," said the dashing opener. "These are rumours created by the media," he added.
