With our esteemed putting up brilliant performances in England and now in Oz, what is going to the fan following of our maharathis in the near future? 1. Are you going to watch the CB series (I am not, I just cancelled my monthly subscription to Willow) 2. Are you going to cheer for your fav team in cowlashing IPL? (I will not even see replays on the internet) 3. What about the meaningless ODI, T20s in 2012? 4. Test series against the invincible NZ at home where our maharathis will put up huge runs on pattas against average bowling? (I am not going to refrain from watching this one as well) 5. Test series against England and Aus at home. (I will start paying some attention only if India manage to comprehensively beat both at home) Otherwise, unless India takes steps to counter this collapse and improves it overseas record, it might be time to take some breaks from following this team. After all why should fans care, if the team/management does not? :dontknow:

When Gavaskar retired in 1987, I stopped following cricket on a consistent basis for a LONG time (plus there were other factors in life that contirbuted to that). I think a similar thing will happen this time although I do think I will keep in touch through cricinfo and this forum every now and then, but will not be watching this loser team very much until they improve.

Its fun to even watch them struggle and try to learn from it. It is very disappointing to see legends looking like batshit. I will follow on CI but as I said earlier 2012 is all about Olympics. I think many members will take a back seat in various discussions, once the Maharathis retire or get dropped from the team..Many of us grew up with these Maharathis (when were were more active in playing cricket rather than just discussing it). I still remember our team going on cycles to another nearby town to play a match with the rival team and we had our scorer manning the radio, giving us score updates of the India matches..

Scorer was the least appreciated person. Almost never got to play and agar ek run idhar ka udhar ho gaya to major bamboo! Many fights have happened over seeing 7 dots in an over box, or if a batsman scored 19 instead of 20 lol. Were you the designated scorer of your team? :giggle:

I used to spin the leather ball on matting wicket (in those days we used to play on matting wickets) quite well and was sought after when other teams in the region wanted an off spinner to play for them in district level matches..Those teams who owned matting used to be proud of it and flaunted it. Will watch every bit of cricket on offer be it T20Is, ODIs or Tests. (whenever it's possible) My being a cricket fan is not directly proportional to the fortunes of the Indian team. I would rather savour its resurgence from the Ashes (in Tests), its dominance (hopefully) in ODIs and its flirtation with T20s. And please bring on the IPL, I'll watch every alternate match and troll the forum bigtime.

I haven't watched the test series much at all and don't plan to watch the ODIs unless there are some close games. Doesn't matter who wins but if the games are close I don't mind watching anyone but this is such a one sided series, almost reminds me of a test giant taking on minnows. I think I will need plenty of inspiration to watch India once the seniors retire (I'm not saying they shouldn't but they have been part of the Indian team for such a long time, it doesn't make for exciting watching without them around).
