MSD is way too laid back. I don't understand the point of playing trundlers at this point, assuming they are building with an eye towards the next two world cups. Umesh yadav should be in the starting 11 ALWAYS (accompanied by Aaron when hes healthy). Pathan should be given a chance regularly from here on out. maybe even Pisshant Sharma. I don't understand the point of playing both Jadeja and Ashwin. Assuming they play 6 bats, Team management should be rotating the following bowlers (assuming Ashwin is fixture for the lone spinner) for the 4 remaining bowlers: Yadav Aaron 1 of PK/VK/Pathan Ishant Dinda Nechim This habit of relaxing in the middle overs wont work in either Australia or England. That is why, I think MSD's time as a ODI captain is up as well (might as well give to Virat).

Its not about pace, its about variations. Vinay Kumar has impressed me with his accuracy and variations. Sometimes pace actually works against you. I remember Brett Lee and Mitchell johnson often struggled when they strayed slightly because batsmen have pace to work with. ODIs are very different from Tests. Dhoni's captaincy is fine in ODIs.

Brett Lee is one of the top ODI fast bowler. He may go for runs here and there, but has succeeded most of the time. His record speaks for him. http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia/content/player/6278.html Average 22, SR 29, and ER 4.70. You cannot pick a few particular matches to show he was taken for runs while he had many better days than bad days in the field as a bowler.

Current approach is fine for the subcontinent but if India wants to go in as the main contender, bowlers are gonna have to take an aggressive approach and you can't be aggressive with vinay kumar and praveen kumar as your opening bowlers.

We must have 1-2 attacking bowlers like Yadav as well qho can bring some pace variety along with a swing bowler like PK or VK. Zak certainly wont be around by 2015.

If phaasht bowlers give runs and bowl poorly then coaches, captains, selectors should be blamed. If trundlers do the same they are just crap and coaches, captains and selectors should be blamed for picking them.

Don't even select phaast bowlers..Don't talk of future..If worried of 'blames' only then keep hurtling from one match to the other as the kool guy says, "I just take one match at a time".. As I said, rebuilding for future is not his cup of tea. We should just wait for the kool guys to make merry and retire. Hopefully better leaders will come in future and will really give a big push to the fast bowling prospects in Indian cricket.. I really like this quick comparision between test and ODI performances, abroad and home track performances..

Umesh , Aaron , Nechim , Dinda should be given chances but PK is coming after an injury break. Not to forget he won us CB series last time here and was unplayable for likes of Hayden , Gilly and Ricky. So IMO he needs to be given some more time.

because trundlers are mostly useless and fast bowlers even they are crap can be persisted with because pace which onw caanot learn while other things can be improved if worked well with coaches. while this is not the case with trundlers. we see how aussie, saffer, Ingerland fast bowlers keep kicking our butts, but we are still happy with trundlers. Pace in itself is a huge advantage and after that it is all about getting it right. what more ridiculous was at MCG, starc, harris, mackay torn our batting on a fast pitch by pace while we were dishing lollipops through 5 spinners. our batsmen have every right to feel unfortunate and discouraged after seeing that.

Indian phaast bowlers are only guest phaast bowlers. Either they'll spend six months of the year in the ICU, or they'll 'lose pace' fashionably whenever they feel like, or they'll spray and be utterly wayward with their 'pace'. A trundler trundling around 130-135 with variations and accuracy is anyday a better investment. In a debate between a quality trundler and an erractic phaast bowler, the quality trundler is always a better longterm option.

who is quality tundler in india other then zack..? also wht about good tundler vs good phast bowler? i would pick good phast bowler anyday over good tundler cos one is decent other is match winer zack even now cant win u matches on his own like steyn .. not in conditions like australia ..here u need pace england learnt this after getting owned every time with there quality tundlers struggling in england even bowlers like pk can survive..

And who is the quality phaast bowler in the horizon who stays fit? Umesh is the only guy twinkling in the horizon, and possibly even he's picked up an injury (otherwise, I don't see the reason for him being left out). The point is to debate these blanket arguments that since somewhere is a trundler he is useless, and since someone has pace he's a shining light. Wayward pacers who struggle to take 5 wickets in a series are as bad as a bad-quality trundler. You cannot put a blanket statement either that a quality fast bowler is gonna be a match winner, and a quality trundler may not be. That would depend on quite a few variables.

:haha: That's so true. Actually in just concluded series we had fastest ever bowling attack (two bowlers consistently bowling 140+) but results have been worst ever. I recall how much fast-fanatics of forum were rejoicing seeing speed guns readings on very first day of first test.

Results were worse as our batsman cannot bat and catch.

Yadav played all 4 tests. What exactly is wrong with resting him? He is the only geniune decent fast bowler we have.He should be rotated as much as possible to avoid burn out. Did any Aussie bowler played all 4 tests and last ODI? Those who are moaning about Yadav being rested will also be moaning even more if he wasnt properly rested suffered due to injury.
