Sachin Tendulkar no longer "delivers" : Gambhir Tendulkar should not be allowed to pursue his dream of scoring his 100th century on this tour, according to outspoken opener Gautam Gambhir In comments sure to splinter the Indian dressing room, Gambhir said the tourists needed players who could "deliver''. Tendulkar has not scored a century in his 11 innings on this Australian tour and was rested before Sunday's game against Australia, which the tourists won. "For me, this was the best playing 11,'' Gambhir said before pointedly adding "it's not about names''. "You don't want names, you want people who can deliver,'' Ghambir, who was named man-of-the-match after top scoring with 92, said. "The best XI is if 11 players have the belief they can beat any opposition on the park and this playing XI had the belief that they could beat Australia in Australia and in this ODI. "One or two individuals don't make a difference.'' Not content with tearing down a legend, Gambhir also took aim at captain M.S. Dhoni, saying the skipper should have batted with more urgency. :omg: :orderorder:

lol , please tell me how is Gambhir saying we should have finished the game by the 48th over denigrating a colleague behind his back? MSD admitted as much after the match.. But hold on I understand why you are frustrated, India have started to win in the ODIs contrary to how you wanted to see it.

I heard him say this so why blame media. He is in the Viru camp
Did he say SRT no longer delivers? The paper says :-

Maybe if Gambhir hadnt thrown his wicket again then we would have won and not even needed to leave it till the 48th over? Similarly maybe if he hadnt flopped so badly i.e. worst batsman in the team, during the tests we might have done better. Never liked this guy and dont think he would make a good captain. Kohli in 2-3 years for me.

Gambhir is surely in shewag camp,It will be intresting if gambhir continues his form in tests will he get the captaincy .

Gambhir's no weasel but it would take one to know one, eh?
But hold on I understand why you are frustrated' date=' India have started to win in the ODIs contrary to how you wanted to see it.[/quote'] Indeed. With India topping the points table currently (and a certain team getting their arses handed to them by a 130-odd run defeat in the UAE) understandable that he is searching for other methods to satisfy himself.

His comments have been reported on quite a few news agencies. He made some other reprehensible comments. Judge for yourself.
"I don't know what was going through MS's mind, but maybe he wanted to delay it, maybe he wanted someone else to take that responsibility,'' Gambhir said.
Why would a guy with an average of 50 and a SR of 88+ intentionally delay anything unless it was part of his strategy and surely experienced team-members must be aware of the vagaries of the shorter formats ? And that bit about AVOIDING responsibility ? sheer rubbish. If that was not enough ...he goes on to claim
Someone like me, if I was there, I wouldn't have taken it to the last over, because I always feel that any runs in the last over is far more pressure than finishing one or two overs before.
Yes if ONLY you were there Gambhir , we might never have lost 8-0 to England and Australia.

Here's my take on it, Gambhir is coming out like this with open fire because he has heard that Dhoni's captaincy days are numbered. That's why he isn't afraid of repercussions.

This might not have been the "best" XI, in the true sense of the word. What he possibly could be referring to is the fact that this is India's best XI, with an eye on the future. And I find it appalling that the whole of India is already not saying that. After all the excitement about Ajinkya Rahane's debut in England, if it doesn't bother people to see him sitting in India currently, maybe Ian Chappell does have a good point........
