Stuge Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Cyclist hit by his Lamborghini sustains head injuries A young businessman was killed when his luxury car rammed the railing on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor near Krishi Vihar here on Sunday. A cyclist hit by the car sustained serious head injuries. Twenty-six-year-old Anukool Rishi, whose family is into real estate business, was driving towards Moolchand flyover in his Lamborghini when he lost control over the wheel and rammed the railing on the BRT corridor near the Krishi Vihar bus stop. The car then hit a cyclist and came to halt after hitting a pole. The police suspect that the car was being driven at high speed and the driver lost control in a bid to overtake some vehicle. Badrinath, a private security guard deployed at a nearby bungalow, was among the first few to reach the crash site. He then called up the Police Control Room. Badrinath said: Ū heard a screeching sound and rushed out of the bungalow. I saw two men lying on the road covered in blood. The cyclist was bleeding profusely from the head and was gesticulating for help. Some passers-by took him to a hospital in a private vehicle. The car driver was probably dead with his stomach ripped open. It seems that the railing tore open his stomach as the right side of the car was badly damaged. The air bag had burst open and one of the front wheels of the car had come loose. The accident led to a minor ttraffic jam at the spot and the locals managed the traffic till the time the police reached the spot. Ū made a call to the police at 5-15 a.m. and a PCR van soon reached the spot. Meanwhile, I along with some locals stopped traffic on the road to ensure that the injured were not run over by speeding vehicles. The light vehicles were diverted to the service lane and the heavy ones were diverted to the adjoining lanes. For their part the police said the post-mortem report was awaited to ascertain whether the driver was in an inebriated state at the time of accident. http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Delhi/article2910982.ece

Prakat Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 sad. a life lost and another pretty much comes to a standstill because some jackass went on a reckless joyride. a laywer should bring a civil case against this guy for endangering the cyclist's life and get him to cough up some big monies as compensation.
