there are only two genuine right arm fast bowler from subcontinent that i know of , akhtar and waqar. and since umesh is also one genuine right arm fast bowler , i wanted to see what were their performances in test matches against Australia to see where umesh stand against those legends. and surprise surprise!! in Australia, against Australia, umesh has better average then them, better 5fer, and much better strike rate. bonus point, umesh did better then malinga and the new pakistani pace sensation *now banned* amir. 28m333a.jpghttp://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;opposition=2;orderby=bowling_average;qualmin1=5;qualval1=wickets;team=6;team=7;team=8;template=results;type=bowling ladies, do not start yapping just by looking at the average. see wicket column and strike rate.its not umesh's fault that he was not born in the time of Steven waugh, langer, hayden or gilchirst, but still had warner, hussy, ponting and clark to deal with and they all scored century, double century, triple century against him. kid did more there in a season then the legend did their whole life. appreciate it. thanks

Absolutely ridiculous' date=' why don't you take a look at the batting line ups that these bowlers had to come up against compared to the one Umesh faced.[/quote'] but it was Ponting, Clark, and Hussey who scored most of the runs and these batsmen are as good as any Waqar and Shoaib bowled to. Also take a look at how better Pakstian's attack in overall was in comparison to this Indian attack. Pakistani bowlers were better and even then they could not do much and if you consider Yadav is a rookie while Waqar and Akhtar both were already known faces.

Absolutely ridiculous' date=' why don't you take a look at the batting line ups that these bowlers had to come up against compared to the one Umesh faced.[/quote'] what the point of this nonsense. waqar wasnt bowling to bradman. Australia isnt zimbabwe now, against same attack wasim and kapil were averaging just 24. i am just pointing out the subcontinental right arm genuine fast bowler's performances in Australia. now if the stats are not according to ur satisfaction then i cant do anything about it.

Umesh has taken as much wickets in a tour as waqar did in australia in his whole career,Waqar younis was not that great in australia.

This kind of applying filters in statsguru to prove a point is ridiculous, especially where they have played way too few matches to arrive at a conclusion. What next? Afretard has a better bowling average in India than Warne so he is better?

Australia were not as dominant when waqar toured in 1990-96 as they were 2000,Likes pontings, hussey, clarke are not crap batsman by any means.Yes comparing both is wrong,But waqar did not have as much succees in australia as people might have expected.

i can apply the same logic to bradman and say he played very few matches compared to today's batsmen so he may not be great. but then how many matches are not "too few matches". u cant arbitrarily decide the number for that . what you have is a whole career worth matches of two legends in a particular region. at this point in time umesh has marginally better stats then them. they cant improve it, umesh can. i didnt say "umesh> waqar/akhtar", i said "umesh in australia> waqar/akhtar in australia".
