Digging pitches at Bombay was done by Shiv Sena and not cricket fans. Other 2 incidents, though deplorable (and one is from 1974 :omg:), do not prove Indian fans are well renowned for their "hooliganism".

Indian fans and hooliganism :omg: I don't even recall one incident where there was a fight after or before the game or where fans got injured or where they torched the city etc. The only incident that can remotely be termed as hooliganism in the 96 WC semis where the crowd thre bottled on the field and stopped the match. Other than that pls provide me examples of "hooliganism" by Indian fans. Indian fans are some of the best and most weel behaved fans you will ever come across. Not one incident can be found of an Indian fan of physically assaulting or harming anyone or making nuisance home or away. Indian fans follow their team passionately and support them no matter what considering the cr@ppy record of the Indian team over the years. They lin up outside a stadium hours before a game, or wake up in the middle of the night to watch the likes of Tendulkar, and in fact most of the time they are the ones who are actually kicked, beaten and caned while waiting outside the stadium to watch a game with valid tickets in hand. Pls don't make stuff up just to biggy up Tendulkar and denigerate Indian fans. Oh, by the way SRT was made a demi-god by the same "hooligans". By the way it wouldn't hurt you to find out out what "hooligan" or "hooliganism" really means.

It hurts me when i slap myself in front of mirror just to hurt the guy in mirror... I think what Raghav was saying is more down to generalisation and simplification of the problem. Since the world cup we have played just two series against decent oppositions and its only those two series where Sachin has failed. Isnt cricket a team sport? How did rest of players fared? No one is even bothered to look at. its 100 ton..... If it was 100th 100, why did he gave his spot to youngsters at home or on WI tour?

Burning effigies and sporadic incidents of stone throwing where not even one person was hurt or injured is not the definition of "world renowned hooligans". Maybe you need to check what hooligans really are by watching some Premiership games and interact with fans afterwards or mabe watching a Serie A game wearing opponent's jerseys in the stands. I can guarantee you that not once has anyon felt threatened or unsafe due to the behavior or actions of Indian fans. In fact you can even have Paki fans in the stadium for an Ind-Pak game and not one Paki will be harmed even if India loses the game. Branding Indian fans as "hooligans" is wrong plain and simple, and doing so just to prove how great SRT is pathetic to say the least. It's because of these "hooligans" SRT is what he is and I can assure you SRT can walk any street in Inda he will not be harmed - he will be mobbed but never harmed.

Those 2 series were the hih profile series and these series are the reasons why we have senior batsmen in the team. We went 0-8 in the series and as for others, everyne is agreed Dravid and Laxman have to go as well, and probably followed by Sehwag soon after. If we are going 0-8 what's left for the seniors to do anyways? To score run at home against Kiwis? The reason everyone is asking for the seniors to step away is coz we don't tour away the next 2 years, and the seniors won't be around that time. So it makes sense to blood youngsters like Rohit, Rahane, Pujara and maybe Mukund now so that by the time the next overseas tour comes we are giving ourselves the best chance to win coz I don't want to go through the 0-8 humiliation ever again. On the contrary if we stick with the seniors and they score runs at home against kiwis and Eng at home, which they most likely will, and then retire before the next overseas tour (even if they don't they will be 42 by that time), what will happen to the team then? Do you want to see youngsters brought into the team just ahead of overseas tours without giving them any chance to succeed and cement their place in the team at home first? That would be selfish in the extreme and I for one don't want to witness such a scenario.

Take out the tests thread from WI tour..... You will see how few of these applicants performed. To me the biggest cause of our batting failure were openers. They came back too quickly and left middle order exposed to new ball. That too in all the games? Why not start by searching a decent opener. Yeah when Sachin scored that century atTrafford what experience he had the time???? If there is a better youngster he will automatically replace Sachin or Dravids..... Sportmen live on the basis of relative excellence. Superior guy will automatically make it to team..... Problem is there are not enough Virat Kohli alike to make it to team...

How would yu know if there's a worthy applicant if he doesn't get a chance? Rohit, Pujara, Mukund and Rahane can't impress sitting on the bench while averaging 60+ at first class level while the seniors can't buy a run. Lok how Kohli emerged from the tough tour after he was played the whole series. If Rohit & Rahane had been given the same backing and vote of confidence we would have been in much better position now.
