not much of a watcher of indian games but i remember one IPL match where he scored a ton off the last ball of the innings by pushing and jogging for a run. their total was then chased down in a thrilling fashion. had he been selfless and went for a big shot and cleared the boundary their team could have won the match. (maybe he could've been dismissed and the team could've ended up one more short' date=' but imo what he did there looked really selfish)[/quote'] Also "if" when fielding Malinga hadnt bowled a few wides they would have won...."if" Rayudu hadnt dropped a catch etc. i know hes God, but even God cant predict what the opposition will score when batting first!

Tendulkar has done nothing, in fact on the England tour and the Aussie tour the guy has just been playing for the 100 century, he is a choker and is no way a great of the game. Has never done anything in a crunch situation, I used to respect and love him but sorry to say he is selfish, will never be a great in my opinion, as much as I dislike Ponting at least he has won many a game for Australia. In fact the whole Indian team is a joke and a disgrace, they don;t care about the country all they care about is their bank balances. Glad they didn't make the ODI finals in Australia, fat, lazy and overrated.
welcome back :P :--D

ehehe Thanks was a nice refreshing break, now I am fit and refreshed to play in the IPL after my 3 month holiday in Australia, shopping, watching movies, go karting and just generally enjoying beautiful Australia. :)

Well you and me maybe, but the fans in India don;t really care about what has happened over the last 8 months away from India. This is why the Indian team knows that they will get away with it, IPL starts and they will get fatter and the fans will forget and the cover up will be complete.

Here's counter argument to that: His 99 centuries were for himself. Did India win 99 times? No. How many times India has lost due to his intent of getting a century to increase his record i.e slowing down to get to a century regardless of match situation? That's not even someone can quantitatively measure. India lost 24 matches where he scored a century and India lost but its actually more than that. Those games where he got out in 90's trying to get a century, slowing the run rate down for personal record and India lost, that also can be attributed to that. At least some part of blame should go to him. Sachin's best innings were those where he played freely like 2003 WC against Pakistan but he didnt score a century there. See the difference? Only two exceptions to that would be his two 100's in sharjah where he completely was positive from the word go to the end of innings. Given that Tendulkar has played for so long, he has failed most of the times to dig India out of the hole on his own. For example in recent 8-0 drubbing, there wasn't a single game where Tendulkar changed the game with his magic innings which should have come at least once in 16 innings. India comes first, not the individuals. He served his time, got the respect, now he should make way for others. Personal records dont mean a sh*t over national interests.
Totally agreed. Every player should be measured by their performance in the last few innings. Not what they did 5 years back. Reality is SRT has been great but at the same time he has been carried over quite a few times. His tennis elbow days was a primary example when any other player would have got the boot. Its great that he came back from it but who is it to say any other youngster given a continued chance for that many games wouldnt have cemented his place. SRT fanboys wouldnt like it and I used to be one of them a long time back. But its a pity that a player who has played for so long, you can only remember a handful of meaningful games that led the team to a win!

Stats show what you want them to show. Start breaking it down by periods and by opponents and by occasions, the fancy story starts unraveling. But don't let depth of analysis (or lack thereof) prevent you from making your point. My purpose is not to pick and chose stats but a batsman of his caliber should be expected to up the ante when the going gets tough. He has done it a few times but not enough to shut every one up.

Not many people give a rats ass about his 100th ton. His bakthas were going gaga over it, now they are pissed off at others since it hasn't happened.

What a poor post. Amount of personal attacks on this forum is ridiculous. What ponka posted was a fact not an example. Sachin did score 99 centuries and not all of them ended in a win. This is not an example, its a fact. Why sachin and his centuries are discussed, its because the crux of this thread.
What abt Imran Khan ? Centuries-7 Matches won-2 5 wicket hauls-24 Matches won-11

Glad to see slime like you crawl from under the rock when India is not doing well so that everyone can see what kind of souche-bags you are

My signature is for people like you.

Show me one match and I will never post on this forum again. Sachin has one of the fastest 70 to 80s conversion rate and a very high 90 to 100 conversion rate. Yes morons like you get the impression but dont have the brains to figure out that he usually reaches 100 sround 35 over when no one goes all out and people just play each ball for merit unlike the previous power play overs. No dhoni, not Raina, not Kohli, no one plays fats in the 35th over. You just need common sense

Again, give even one example of your claim of India losing because of his slowing odwn and I will stop posting. In fact India's scoring rate decreased after he got out. Put your money where your mouth is or else I am free to call Ponka a bare-faced liar Wait, this is complete contradiction to the point you made before. You claim india lostbecause Sachin slowed and got out in 90s, yet you claim, those 90s where better that his 100s? How is both possible?

So you are trying to compare an average cricket fan with a professional cricketer :hysterical: Amazing!!! While you are at it why don't you add that he has played for India whereas most of the chaps criticizing him haven't. If there's an example of debating a person instead of argument, this is it :haha: For those who don't know what "debating a person instead of argument is", just like the op it means to focus on the issues raised by person/people rather than being defensive and focus on the person/people who raised those points. By OP's logic Tendulkar should be in the team forever coz he can only be criticized or dropped by someone who has scored more than 99 centuries :haha:
U_G one of the reason people (and me) avoid replying to your post is because you dont deserve a logical reply. You clearly didnt see anything wrong in Ponka's post questioning the integrity of a 20 year old career and went about claiming that his whole career is selfishness and for himself. And then you talk about logic and debate? From the beginning of the Australia tour you have just been baiting Sachin, talking about his integrity, his honesty and everything else un-related to cricket. You have been behaving like a child who cannot handle his favorite team being defeated and has to lash out at any target. A child whose toy is broken will even hit or scream at his parents becuase he doesnt know how to behave in a dignified way, he doesnt know how to handle defeats and disappointment Yes, India is going through one of its worst places and Sachin has over-stayed his usefullness. But thats it. Its not because the world is against you, its not because Sachin is a decietful person, not because Dravid is a moron, etc. grow up a bit. I have been purposely avoiding your posts and other Sachin's threads. Once the bitterness of defeat subsidises, after 2 years you, yourself will look back at your posts and wonder what happened to make you type these things, but the posts will remain for everyone to see
