146 at Newlands last year. Perth knock was good as any but conditions at Perth were not as tough as in Capetown. Perth only had bounce, not much lateral movement while Newlands had both. Sanjay Manjeraker explained the difference then and now at WACA. He said it only had bounce and pace back then but now it also has lateral movement which is far more harder to negotiate. Even SRT accepted that Capetown was his best session of cricket in his entire career. Dale Steyn was at his best, wickets were falling from the other end. Styen was in a Shane Warnesque spell of leg spin bowling at 140K which was actually outswing going like leg spin of Shane Warne. Steyn was mesmerizing everyone but other than SRT. Every ball of Styen could take the wicket in that session, but was not just Styen, fast and bouncy Morkal from the other end was at his best bowling form ever in that whole series and then Tsotsobe with his extra bounce and accuracy and left arm angle along with innocuous heavy bowler Jacques Kalis who is always a danger when ever he held the ball in his hand. This is an attack which could challenge any batting in the world. He struggled, he scratched, some times looked all at sea, but he also played some shots which only a genius could play on that day and that is the beauty of test cricket that even in struggles, one can swim against the tide, can fly against the storm, can fight the odds, and he did the same. I am watching cricket since 1993-1994, my first cricket tournament which I remember was Hero cup, first test series which I remember was 3-0 white wash to England, and do not remember anything before or around that as I was just a kid around 9-10 years of age and had just started to know about cricket and I have seen most of SRT's 100s since then, but no one can match this. He played many more fluent innings than this, but real character comes out amidst struggles and hard conditions.

In ODIs my fav is the 100 in the CB series finals in 2007. In tests the chennai test. That was a supermanesque inning IMO.
