saket123 Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 The worst thing to have on flat tracks is pace bowlers who have no control over line and length. I would rather have a medium pacer like Munaf Patel any day.. who is very good at bowling wicket to wicket.
Cricket Tragic Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Still a massive concern. You're not going to chase down 330 everyday.
saket123 Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Still a massive concern. You're not going to chase down 330 everyday. True.. and the worst thing is no body that matters seem to realize this.
jairamesh Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 and it wasn't that Ajmal is an immense spinner of the ball. Both him and Afridi are good with pacing their deliveries aptly and putting them in the right spots... Other than Kumble.. I can't think of a single Indian spinner who does that. Our bowlers have this preconceived imagination of bowling at a spot they pick and hope that the batsman will NOT take a run.. .. Its not even about trapping the batsman for a wicket or beating him completely... it's all about hoping the batsman does not hit you for 4. Intelligence is what separated Ass-swine and Jaddu from Ajmal and Afridi. Just so much smarter bowling from Ajmal and Afridi, especially Ajmal.
Crookbond Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Still a massive concern. You're not going to chase down 330 everyday. We defended 300 against SL, no?
ganeshran Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Hope this win doesnt paper over the cracks. Bowling is piss poor by international standards.
yoda Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Avg RPO of 7 for the match and people are biatching about Ashwin's 5.6 RPO
saket123 Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Avg RPO of 7 for the match and people are biatching about Ashwin's 5.6 RPO  Ashwin is the best among the worst. But he still has the same Indian bowlers' mentality..."Let me bowl this way over here and let's see what happens".
Sachin=GOD Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Nothing will change. The team has just chased 2 scores of 300+ in the last 4 matches so there will be "wah wah" for the batsmen while the performance of the bowlers will be completely ignored. And then of course there's the biggest series of the year - IPL (:adore: :adore:) coming up so no time even if someone wants to imprve his bowling
vvvslaxman Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 Ashwin is the best among the worst. But he still has the same Indian bowlers' mentality..."Let me bowl this way over here and let's see what happens". He has to go back to his conventional ways. His attempt to bowl faster ones is not working. It turns into a long hop. He has good height. So he should focus on flighting the ball more. If batsman takes chance and hits.. well done to batsman. But this way he can create more chances.

IPL is definitely a place where bowlers take a back seat. It's all about slog hitting. IPL definitely takes the focus away from bowling skills. Maybe thats what got us into this mentality of accepting sub par bowling leading us to turn a blinds eye to the fact that our bowlers are the main culprits. It's like we've come to accept that it is OK for batsmen to thrash our bowlers like that. The balance needs to shift.. and shift fast.

Maybe then BCCI also focusing on Ranji pitches, juice up the IPL pitches producing rank turners, green tops, bouncy ones etc. But the marketeers would pooh-pooh the idea, as they reckon batsmen slogging their way to 50s and 100s attracts eyeballs to the TV. Which is wrong, a competitive match between ball & bat is what thrills people.

Afridi really? Ashwin and Jaddu can bash minnows as much as Afridi does. the only good team I see Afridi deliver against is Sri Lanka. Otherwise he sucks

At the same time, I think Zak and Yadav must be our two strike bowlers in any format. Right now, there is nobody that can replace them for sure. The third bowler must be the one groomed. Irfan must be played as an all rounder rather than as a pacer. He is more of the all rounder model at the present stage rather than strike bowler. And he should be utilized more at the start when the ball is swinging. In spinning pitches, Y Pathan or Jadeja must hold the all rounder place instead. We should play five bowlers (consider Irfan as the fifth bowler) from now on and that gives more options. UV's return would help the balance of the team a lot more. PK should also be used when the ball is swinging at the start. And Ashwin should use the carrom ball and go back to form to retain his spot as the main spinner. If not, I would say Ojha, Rahul Sharma or even Bhajji might occupy his spot in the long run. His form and strike rate has been deteriorating with time. Bhajji was the mystery bowler for a lot of years, Kumble and other legends were great bowlers throughout their career but Ashwin has become a mediocre spinner too soon. He is not showing much form in batting either and is performing worse than Bhajji in terms of batting. He has to go back to his conventional ways. His attempt to bowl faster ones is not working. It turns into a long hop. He has good height. So he should focus on flighting the ball more. If batsman takes chance and hits.. well done to batsman. But this way he can create more chances. Agree. He needs to go back to his old ways. Not using his carrom ball well too in recent times. One more thing. I am not sure why Manoj Tiwary does not get a single match. The dude seems depressed after being ignored for so long.

He is not a big turner of the ball and he is very much like Ajmal and Hafeez in that aspect but they vary their pace very well and keep the batsmen on toes most of the time.
CG Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 It has been said for few years now on icf,But people supported trundlers like p.k ,India has no hope with this bowling attack .
jairamesh Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 It has been said for few years now on icf' date='But people supported trundlers like p.k ,India has no hope with this bowling attack .[/quote'] When he first came on he looked decent with great ability to control his swing. But now it's just the case running up, letting go, and hands on hip stance watching the bowl sail to fence, pathetic.
MCcricket Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 BCCI , Indian selectors, never ever had a vision or could identify good bowlers at the right time, Cheeka and Dhobi are making it worst.Batsmen are selected on basis of stats, class, or sometimes pure potental , a bowler has to be selected or identified at an early stage for his strength's , groomed and then selected to play in the team. The requirements , speed, strength, seam, swing, ability to trouble international batsmen. I can simply not understanf what PK, VK are doing in the team, for god's sake atleast give some rookies a chance or get , Gony, Nechim, Shami, Suyal a chance.India has a third rate pace attack, almost pathetic and selectors are ignorant so is Dhobi.
SLICKR392 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 PK thinks he will get an outside edge, everytime he bowls wide filth below 135Ks. If had a bit of brains...he could have used his swing as a lethal weapon. Zak gets wickets without Swing and Pace!
