Sooda Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 He is not international class, but does bowl his backside off. In SA, I think the test we lost, he was good- bowled long quick spells but not much to show for it
rkt.india Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Think about bowling with a bit variation. I think Gony would come ahead of him. He will have to last a full FC season and take wickets as well before thinking about a come back to Indian team. Media reports maybe suggesting that he was bowling with pace, hitting the bat hard, but I wont believe until I see him live. I am not sure he will be anything over 130-135K now. The kind of serious back injury he had even forced Waqar to slow his pace and his age, 27, it is eminent to lose pace after such injury.
CoverDrive Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Hope VRV has turned the corner.. he looked very ordinary whenever I've seen him bowl for India..no swing..no seam movement..dead straight line at 130-135ks..no variations.just begging to be hit. true he looked like abhimanyu mithun - tall guy but not able to generate pace
rkt.india Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 true he looked like abhimanyu mithun - tall guy but not able to generate pace He was bowling 145K in SA, was our fastest bowler in that test series.
Cricket Tragic Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 People remember him more for his batting in SA. It was highly entertaining.
rkt.india Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 People remember him more for his batting in SA. It was highly entertaining. :agree: I also remember him for one of his spell to Ashwell Prince when Prince was in his top form and he had Prince in all sorts of trouble with his pace and bounce, just did not have his wicket.

I would broadly agree with you..But if we have a bowler who can hit the deck, generate bounce, have some movement and variety and can consistently hit the 135 mark, then definitely he is worth considering, even if he is not a 140 K bowler. I would be happy to see VRV or Anwar Ahmed do that.

He is very tall about 6'4, 6'5 but don't know how to take wickets. He needs some refinement in his action as well. Anwar Ahmed, whatever I seen of him, he is very tall, 6'5 minimum, looks sharp(that could be due to the fact that most of our domestic bats can't play decent pace), might be they are making him look sharp. Only problem with Anwar is he is 25,26. So, he needs to make a mark now, otherwise it will be too late
