DANGULY CONSIDERS KKR FAVOURITES KOLKATA: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday handpicked Kolkata Knight Riders as the "hot favourites" to win the ongoing Indian Premier League. Ganguly said his sixth sense picked up the Knight Riders as the probable winners but the Kolkata outfit would look to avoid two-time defending champions Chennai in the summit clash on May 27. A consistent Knight Riders put up yet another clinical show on Tuesday by notching an 18-run win over Delhi Daredevils to storm into the final of IPL for the first time in five years. "My sixth sense says that KKR will win IPL this time. In sport there are several winning moments, I see them with KKR. Luck, it seems, is also with the KKR," Ganguly said referring to the toss won by Gambhir on last two occasions in Pune. "KKR however would look to avoid facing Chennai in the final. Otherwise, they look to be the best team to win the IPL this time," he said. "Cricket is like a circle. There is one team this year and another next year. Hope Pune Warriors India win IPL next year," he added. The former KKR skipper further said he already had wished team co-owner Shah Rukh Khan. "He has always been passionate with the side. The way he reacted (after the win last night) was quite normal. We are used to see his somersaults," Ganguly said about the Bollywood star's winning celebration. Ganguly further said KKR was "lucky" to have Sunil Narine in their side as the mystery spinner was the primary reason for their success this season. "Gambhir is lucky to have Narine in their side. If he (Narine) was in the opponents' camp, even Gambhir would have found it difficult to negotiate the spinner," Ganguly said. "Narine is the first reason for their success this season. He is the player of the tournament. "He is having a psychological effect on the batsmen. His tight spells put additional pressure on the batsmen against the other bowlers," he added. Ganguly also ranked Gambhir among the top captains and said the left-hander from Delhi had shown resilience after being removed from Team India vice-captaincy at the start of Asia Cup. "He was dropped from vice-captain for whatever reasons. But Gambhir has shown amazing resilience. I'm quite impressed with his captaincy. He is one of the best captains of this IPL," he said. Ganguly felt that Laxmipathy Balaji would not be fit from the hamstring injury for the final and picked Aussie speedster Brett Lee to replace the veteran seamer. "I don't think he would recover in four days time. Lee should be brought in, that would mean Shakib Al Hasan would have to sit out. (Manoj) Tiwary would make it up in the batting (by replacing Balaji)," he said.

So any metric against which shakib does not cut it as an all-rounder is laughable. Pehle hi bolne ka tha na.
no! any metric against which no freakin legend of the game cut it as an all-rounder is laughable. i am sorry but ppl come up with this kind of lines when they cant carry on with constructive/informative argument to back their previous stand. hope 2 mill dollar man will be the 1st all-rounder of the game of cricket one day!!! :winky:

A genuine allrounder is someone who impacts in one dept with fullfledged skills as a matchwinner in hteir primary dept and proves useful or a partial matchwinner in the weaker dept because their basics are not too weak or nonexistent in that dept but not as good as a full fledged specialist either. this is the most general case imran and kapil were expected to impact with the ball in their prime whereas kallis is expected to impact with the bat. and there are cases like ashwin and prabhakar who won't qualify as part matchwinners in their weaker dept as they totally lack batting flair but still prove a contributor at times.
no! you have to be bradman with bat and shane warne with ball to even considered as an allrounder. thanks to our own beloved pk :icflove: he opened my eyes :wipe:

forget abt people man. KKR fans know Shakib true value. Other team fans come here to rub you...knowing fully well...that their own team have gone down...& there team themselves have lot of poor cricketers desi's & foreigner. I hope Shakib plays in the final at Chennai...considering the condition...it suits Shakib gameplay. But knowing that Balaji might not play...KKR might be forced to drop Shakib..bring in Lee (& replace Balaji with Tiwary if he is fit)

u r confusing allrounder with good/great allrounder. someone who is considered as a bowler (not part-timer) and can bat in the middle order(jadeja) is an allrounder. if someone maintain 35+ avg with bat and less then 25 with the ball for even few years on his prime is a great allrounder. if he can maintain it for large portion of his career then hes all time great allrounder. i wud say shakib is a good allrounder who has the potential to be a great allrounder and maybe one of all time greats. time will say . if u say hes not a great allrounder yet i agree. but when u say someone is allrounder at your book when only they avg 35+ with bat nd less then 25 with ball (post #667) so shakib is not even an allrounder then i'm sorry to inform u its laughable.
alrite...heal boy heal... sakib is good for BD standards. He is number 1 etc because of this twisted allrounder rankings...you will see that players like Harby singh, yuvi, and earlier warne etc would often rocket up to number 5 etc, this is because all rounder is a loose definition. A genuine all rounder is some one who will get selected into a top international side only by his batting or his bowling. 1, kallis 2, Watson 3, Bravo 4, Irfan etc. Sakib is a good bowler but not someone who can get picked for his bowling alone, he bats well and is definitly better than Jaadu.

As Chennai condition is fevoring, ev1 sounds in confident stance on Sakib's bowling to use in power play to depth. What about batting then, which I'm concerning for kkr. As of now Pathan in somewhat good form, who should bat erlier?, coz this will be importannt for 1 of them must click in final to have effective contribution from middle order. Let say Gautam will keep Tiwary down in order again. In final I would say 150 is below parr score if you aint chasing.

sakib is one of the best SLA at present you cant take that away. He has bowled well in every arena even in IPL. Ull notice that he is among the most economical bowlers in IPL and also picked up 11 wickets in the few matches he played :winky:
