His record in 2012 reads 8 tests' date=' 15 wickets@50, has done absolutely nothing. Deserved to lose his spot as did Ishant. Yes a few others should have been dropped as well but doesn't mean dropping Zaheer was wrong.[/quote'] If we are going by records whole team except pujara should have been dropped. He was bowling well and on indian pitches its hard enough when your batsman mess it up and you have to bowl on 2-3 days.

Gambhir has been pathetic for more than 2 years now.getting starts n not converting is even bigger crime. as for allrounder,I'm just thinking of reasons why they wanna go in for Jaddu.maybe they'll prepare a turner,n play him as 3rd spinner n no.6 also Rahane is a top order player.him playing at no.6 doesnt make any sense at all
Rahane has played as an opener and middle order for Bombay. And what special skills does a number 6 require that Rahane playing there makes no sense? Tendulkar, Ponting, Dravid etc. all started at 6 despite batting higher for their domestic teams. Gambhir has been scoring runs lately and is not going to get dropped.

At least one big name should have been dropped so it was him, Harby and Yuvi were anyway fringe selections. 1. MSD can't be dropped mid-series being captain, and I don't think he will be sacked even if team loses here. He is so big a brand-name to be dropped and Tests hardly generate market value in general Indian public, all he needs to do is beat Pakistan and he will be one of the most successful kaptaan ever. 2. Sachin can't be, his fans will cause riots. Some of them are so delusional that they think SRT is being made scapegoat for team failure because he is a big player and there is no issue with him, like crazy conspiracy theorists mullahs they think it's a conspiracy against their god.

Jadeja at No.6 is not ideal but he cant do worse than Yuvraj. Ideally, Jadeja is better off as the third spinner in place of Zaheer because second seamer wont make a lot of impact in Indian pitches and there is no experienced second seamer in the squad. Rahane should play at No.6 to strengthen the batting as most batsmen are out of form.

Isn't this this pitch when Dale Steyn ran through Indian lineup with huge amounts of swing?
Very close to Adelaide type pitch. More bounce than usual SC track but flat with less lateral movement. Reverses on day 4-5.

Think selectors have chosen an easy way out. They dropped 2 big names (Zak n Bhajji) but none of them were batsman. Gambhir hangs onto his test spot despite being poor in test cricket for almost 3 years now.

He deserved to be dropped, but only after Sachin, Dhoni, Ishant and Harby. Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised if he is back for the next series.

^It matters, we can still draw the series. Just because we couldn't replicate 4-0, series isn't lost. India has to give its all and draw the series.
