Men are being victimized mercilessly with women abusing the law that is supposed to protect them against the monstrous male, and the law happily extends a helping hand: A 23-year-old Washington woman who admitted she lied when she said her father raped her won't be facing any charges. Prosecutors said if they were to charge Cassandra Kennedy with a crime, it might discourage girls from reporting sexual assaults. Kennedy, who said she lied because she was disappointed in her father after her parents divorced, said it was guilt that finally compelled her to come forward to police and admit she lied that her father raped her as an 11-year-old girl in 2001. The propensity of such incidences happening in the West is so much more. In general family as an institution is seriously collapsing, kids, specially daughters often end up dispising their parents for telling them what to do, or specifically what not to do. There is also little taboo attached with allegations like rape, or sexual violence as compared to India, where women often keep quiet to avoid the infamy that comes with it. What is certainly bothering though is that such incidences are definitely on the up.

Unfortunately if the old society victimise women ,the modern society just accept What a woman say about sexual crime as gospel of truth,if anybody even just say that we should also hear other side of story then he is Male chauvinist and Sexist

But this is a very unfortunate incident and is very interesting from a legal point of view as well. What interests me the most is the reason the prosecutors have given for not prosecuting the girl:Prosecutors said if they were to charge Cassandra Kennedy with a crime, it might discourage girls from reporting sexual assaults. Is this not setting a very bad precedence telling women that they can abuse the law at will and get away with impunity?

Is it just me or does anyone else see the stupidity in this? There are just 3 scenarios possible here Scenario 1 Father-daughter didn't have sex. In this case, the rape report is inconclusive which is an error made by the legal system. So, shouldn't the "accountable" he sued for? The doctor found trauma in the girls groin area. Is this enough to prove she has raped? Even if it is, is it enough to prove that she was raped by the father? Scenario 2 Father daughter had sex. Scenario 3 Just the daughter had sex. Now, lets recollect the fact that the girl was approximately 11 years age when this incident took place. According to the "Age of Consent" in Washington USA (which is were Kalama is located), it is illegal to engage in sexual activity before 16. Therefore, if Scenario 2 is TRUE both Father and daughter can be punishable and if Scenario 3 is TRUE only daughter is punishable. From the "long story" article it looks like Scenario 3 is the most plausible, shouldn't the daughter be punished for having sex under 16? The "it might discourage girls from reporting sexual assaults" card is a grey area but the "Age of Consent" law surely isn't? Legal opinions please!

Legal opinions please! :WTF: The daughter wont be punished for having sex below the age of consent. That would be idiotic and counter productive to people who come out and report such crimes. If a major engages in sex with a person below the age of consent, it is rape (even if the sex was consensual) and only the major is liable to be punished. The daughter's crime is making a false statement for which she should be punished.

In the case of sex with a girl under the age of consent, the consent of the girl is noted as immaterial and the act is considered to be rape. Only the consent of a girl above the AoC is considered and the sex is deemed to be between two consenting adults. The AoC is not about criminalizing or preventing girls from having sex. If her partner is under 18 (in most places and 16 in a few) then it is not a crime.

The fact the this girl was a minor ....she would have got away very lightly even if proved wrong at that time. In my opinion a false rape accusation is as serious as the crime. It is an emotional rape of the accused and should have serious consequences.
