Bangladesh to tour India later this year

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Mustafa Kamal has said he has received an assurance from the BCCI president N Srinivasan that India will host Bangladesh for a full tour later in the year, according to a BCB release sent out after an adjourned board meeting. Bangladesh haven't played a Test series in India since gaining Test status in 2000. They have, however, hosted India for a Test series on four occasions. "BCB President AHM Mustafa Kamal informed the Board that he has had favourable discussions with BCCI President N Srinivasan during his recent visit to India and has received assurance that India will host Bangladesh for a full tour later this year," the release stated. The presidents of the BCB and the BCCI met during the opening ceremony of the fifth edition of the IPL. Bangladesh have toured India in the past for ODI tournaments, twice before they started to play Tests - the Asia Cup in 1990 and a triangular series in 1998 - and the Champions Trophy in 2006. India were the first side to tour Bangladesh for a Test series, in 2000-01, soon after Bangladesh were given Test status.

Hosting Bangladesh is totally useless. Atleast a home series for them would be more competitive and allow BCB to make a lots of money from TV rights. Instead a dull series at home benefits no one

A BD series is useless to pretty much everyone except Star. Star gets a few extra bucks. For India, they have to win every single game while for players doing good or bad wont affect the players much. BD board does not get any money since its played outside BD. Although their players get to play against the best, even if they win 1 game, no one will really care like the asia cup upset because people will treat it as an upset. Useless series but keeps the TV ON on cricket.

If India does host B'desh later this year, India should try out the A team. None of the regulars should play the series. Let youngsters like Pujara, Rahane, Rohit, Mukund, Ojha etc. stake their claims for the Indian team. Honestly such a series would be quite useful as at least it will exposure to the upcoming players.

Bangles will be a cakewalk in tests and to quote Sehwag they are an ordinary test team.But i still think in LOI ,they have shown tremendous improvement.Not going by the Asia cup but in SC conditions,they ca still be a handful but in tests they are very poor.
