Steyn got the same warning that Baji got, what they both did are not equal level of offenses..... Hell I still dont understand what Steyn did.... But if all you are gong to get for outright disrespecting the umpire is a "warning" then Im sorry the match referee has to go under review Also I think the umpires also have to go under some kind of review for their conduct.... They are expected not to be influenced by the players but in this case they clearly were..... A fair question to ask is how would this have played out if the tables where turned and the whole MI side would be crying along with their fans...... Sangakara in this case would have gotten more than just a "warning"

The same bloke can't even get down his 6ft frame to save a boundary when on national duty. Someone really needs to nip this worrying trend of bravado exhibition to keep the corporate sponsors happy. As for Harbhajan, he would do well to respect the umpires and get on with the game. Captaincy does not give you the right to cross the line which you otherwise wouldn't have dared to. The fact that he was let off with a mild reprimand will only encourage such bullying tactics in the games ahead. Its very evident no one gives a fig about the Fair Play Award and if such behaviour is idolized and copied by future players then all the gentleness will be rudely pulled out of the Gentleman's Game
kidnextdoor Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Also on the other hand Cricket is known to be a "gentleman's sport". Unfortunately this notion has been going downhill pretty rapidly. There was a time when everyone complained about how Aussie players sledged. If no one has noticed, India being the financial powerhouse of cricket, have taken everyone hostage. Anything that does not go their way seems to end up going their way. Ofcourse, the senior players still play the game with the utmost respect but actions as such, from Harbajan and Munaf are clearly inexcuseable. On several occassions Virat, Sreesanth, and a few others have been known to go overboard !! We never see Sachin, Dravid, Dhoni, Kumble, Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Zaheer go overboard as such. These guys show aggression as well but always hold their actions within the bounds of the game and know when to draw the line. India is a very talented team and its board is important to cricket, but I don't believe they should be able to run cricket as they wish !!!
