PSB_Zone Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Test cricket is the real worry for India ,Dhoni is found defensive & clueless in tests. He is still the best in odi and t-20..Gambhir form in last 3 years is pathetic with just 1 century Kohli, sharma, rahane, pujara are young .So can we hv a short term captain sehwag to groom kohli..This will also remove dhoni's work load.."This is comming frm MSd fan.."We cant hv sehwag open specialy in overseas ...bowlers hv found his weakness..we need proper opening batsman.. rahane pujara kohli(vc) sachin sehwag* sharma dhoni/saha/naman ojha ashwin zaheer praveen/ishant/aaron yadav Have ur say??
Dinx - the Jinx Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Awesome idea.. Why dint I think about it before ;)
GautiMaan Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 sehwag in the middle order might be worth trying but captaincy:headshake: We might as well take the plunge and have kohli as captain
Dinx - the Jinx Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 ^^ absolutely... we had Tiger Pataudi captaining India at 20.Why not Kohli
Crookbond Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Virat Kohli and Tiger Pataudi .... Blistering Barnacles! :headshake:
Cricket Tragic Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Pujara's ability is massively overstated imo. He did well in Bangalore and looked pretty good in SA but that's about it. He's a good player but let's not get carried away. He averaged 10 in the series. And why would you want to open with him?
Spiderguy252 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Captain or not, if he opens the batting again overseas, I'll put a bullet through my skull. Seriously, I've had enough with the 4/1s and 8/1s FFS.
Dravid_TheWall Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Don't agree. Viru should open but yeah any captain other than MSD is good. However, Viru is quite laid back. I would like to see GG captain in all formats of the game. Viru can dictate pace from opening position, if he fails to learn from his mistakes drop him. Middle order is not natural to him even though he started there. He is more of a stroke maker, he plays dot balls and hits boundaries, suited for the top spots. You need to rotate strike for middler order and he doesn't really do that.

If u wont give settled spot to the yongster how u expect new rd or vvs or lakshman...GIve these guys a long rain say abt 10 test matches and a settled spot ..Either open wid pujara or mukund we cant hv gg and sehwag open/..
yoda Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Before Dhoni loses his test captaincy Sehwag may be retired.

The point is that Pujara is not an opener.
veer Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 looking at the way he played in Aus, i wouldnt like him to be in the test team.. yeah.. he can pile up runs in subcontinent.. but on lively pitches, he is sitting duck.. and he doesnt want to change that either.. i would throw him out of the test team for the way he played in Aus... he is past his prime time... cant stick with him anymore..
Sooda Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 He should not captain. Period. If not MSD it should be GG, but for now MSD it will be so thie discussion is pointless. Less pointless is the 'where should he bat' discussion. he should bat at 5. For me for the next series I would like to see- Gambhir, Mukund, Rahane, Tendulkar, Sehwag, Kohli, MSD, Zaheer, Umesh,Ashwin, Ojha Praveen, Pujara, Rohit, Spinner. Only downside is having a newbie at no 3. Maybe Pujara can bat there and not Rahane as Pujara has test experience. MAYBE SRT can be convinced to bat there...?

Marut Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 We are back in India. Why try middle order, Viru will be all right and ready for another 300. When we tour overseas, we can consider moving Sehwag down the order or replacing him. Captaincy - NO.
SLICKR392 Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 ^^ absolutely... we had Tiger Pataudi captaining India at 20.Why not Kohli How did you come up with comparing these 2?
