rkt.india Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 The 15 member squad should ideally have 8 batsmen plus 7 bowlers , 4 pacers and 3 spinners., Irfan, Umesh, Rahul and Ashwin should be there. Hopefully Aaron will be fit as well and would have played the ODIs and t20s in Sri Lanka in late July. Dinda could be another one in the sqaud. The 3rd spinner's slot, if they decide to send 3 spinners, could be a toss up between Chawla and Jaddu. My choice for batsmen- Sehwag, Gambhir, Kohli, Raina, Rohit, MSD, Uthappa, Yusuf. Yusuf though will have to show up at some stage in the IPL else that spot would go to Manoj Tiwary. As good as Rahane has been, with Sehwag and GG looking in good touch and Uthappa as a backup opener, I don't think there's a place for him in the t20 side yet. I think Manish Pandey and Uthappa are better choice as reserve opener than Uthappa. Uthappa is struggling to hit balls, too much. Yadav and has been hot and cold and too erratic. Uthappa can keep and bat in middle order goes for him.

When IPL started Ganguly said he saw Uthappa as a finisher in the middle order. After his own failures as an opener, pushed Uthappa to open. Even when he did well there, for some reason, Uthappa is back in the middle order again. Lack of clarity of his role is definitely hurting Uthappa. Should be opening the batting with instruction to bat for 12-14 overs of the innings.

rkt.india Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 9. any kumar brotherss shall come 10. munaf i hope legend gets his some rest he is playing too much cricket :orderorder:
J P K Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 :orderorder: selectors will be eager to select VK again he has picked 8 wickets 7 more than bhajji one less that zak by bowling well in patta wicket while umesh & varun gets better pitch to bowl Pk will play well towards the end and get his place back munaf is the leading wicket taker among indian phasst bowler this ipl
J P K Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 No Munaf' date=' no VK and no Praveen please.[/quote'] what his wrong with munaf his attitude sucks but he was our best bowler after zak in WC
rkt.india Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 My 7 bowlers will be: Zak Dinda Awana(Awana should be played in ODIs and T20s against SL) Aaron/Yadav (Depends on how Aaron does after injury) IKP (as alrounder at 7) Ashwin Rahul
msb1991 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 what his wrong with munaf his attitude sucks but he was our best bowler after zak in WC He has been bowling poorly in the IPL recently. When in poor form, he is an awful bowler who can lose matches for a team.
msb1991 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 My 7 bowlers will be: Zak Dinda Awana(Awana should be played in ODIs and T20s against SL) Aaron/Yadav (Depends on how Aaron does after injury) IKP (as alrounder at 7) Ashwin Rahul I'm unsure about Rahul. He has been punished a few times in the IPL. Notably by Gayle but once else sticks in my mind too. I think Nadeem may be a better option. We'll have to see how Aaron is doing, but I don't think Yadav should be in contention unless he strings some good performances together.

Munaf was effective only with Malinga, look at what happened to him without Malinga bowling from the other end. Vinay Kumar has been too expensive, cannot bowl at death. We need pacers who can bowl at death, cant depend on spinners to bowl at death. Dinda and Awana have shown that they can bowl at death.

He is erratic some times when he tries to bowl short but once he bowls fuller lengths he is good. Rahul Sharma will be good because SL wickets will offer more help than what Indian tracks have and it has always been a risk hitting him and not many batsmen can hit him out of the park easily. I have put condition regarding Aaron's inclusion. Yadav has 8 wickets at 7.3 economy. Vinay has gone for 9.03.
saneindian Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 No Zak please and no Munna either. Terrible fielders, and none of them is a very good t20 bowler either.

I think he is too big of a risk. He has been punished for some massive overs, as has Chawla. Leg spinners have a tendency to go for big runs. If a spinner is in top form, like Rahul last season or is an amazing bowler like Warne, you can overlook the possibility, of course. Yadav hasn't been that amazing in IPL, he has performed fine, he has played as part of a very strong bowling line up and this has helped him. Well yes. Even our selectors will not be crazy enough to include Vinay without a drastic improvement in performance. But yeh, Yadav's economy will naturally be lower as he has been part of an attack which has destroyed opposition top orders. Of course, he has played a part in this and he definitely has performed better than Vinay, but the unqualified economy rates require some context. PS: I think Irfan Pathan at seven and bowling one or two overs with the new ball will be very good for us and help eliminate the 'problem of the fifth bowler', at least, in this format where a batting average of 20-25 is good enough for a number seven.

Agree about most but we can only have the best of we have. Rahul was good in Aus, was good against WI at home. I see no harm in trying him and thing is he is an accurate bowler and there have been very few days that he has been hit around. An accurate bowler can always come back in T20s. You don't have Gayles or Sehwag's in every team.
