In addition to music of the song, I am more enchanted by the lyrics of the songs. There are one of the best lyrics I have heard in recent times. Lyrics is often personal taste so obviously we will have differences but if you just pay a bit of careful attention you may see how out of place it seems. Not to seem overly critical but perhaps it comes out due to the background of the writer, Sameer. He used to be criticized in his heydays, when he was the pick lyricist for Nadeem Shravan and Anand Milind as man whose songs were simple tukbandi and composed in 10 words or less. It kinda seems at play here as well. The song has its base in Rajasthani, and while first two lines are Rajasthani background, it then leads to Hindi and rather simple at that. You can compare it with Gulzaar's Bidi Jalaile jigar se piya, where Gulzar is out of his comfort zone but even then his genius writes in the local dialect without meandering in Hindi. That all said, I am not critical of Sameer. I have highest regard for any lyricist because they create things and I love creativity. So yeah great song. Lyrics? Hmmm lets not get there. :)

DomainK Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I agree with Lurk. The lyrics sounds so unlike Samir. It's good, but on closer scrutiny, it's not really that great. But it's definitely very good by the general standards these days and is unbelievably good by the general standards of Samir himself.

Javed Akhtar was recently asked if there is a song he wished he had writted himself and without hesitation, he said he wished he had written something like Bidi Jalaile. Gulzaar always was and still is the best.
