Pune wanted him to play apparently. Without Yuvi they don't have any star who can fill the stadium for them. Embarrassing to watch while playing be it fielding or batting ,tbh :giggle:. But he is naturally stubborn. Doesn't give up like this.

He really is damaging his own reputation by still being in the competition. He should learn from VVS or even Lara whom all decided to stay away in order not to damage their own reputations together with the team's performances.
lol both vvs and lara were in the auction no one brought otherwise even they would have played it`s all about money

Nope, they had offers but decided to stay away for all those reasons. Furthermore even VVS happily dropped from some games unlike Ganguly.

At least your captain wasn't Sanga.
Lol, Sanga at least was honest enough to drop himself for his poor performances. Had his team was probably the most unluckiest team in the tournament, with all those last over finishes. Ganguly has no excuses and because of him, the whole PWI batting order was harmed.

Forget about plans, there was no clarity on whether Ganguly rested himself, or if he was asked to do so. “I don’t know if it was Sourav’s decision or if it was the team management’s. We were told by Sourav that he would rest for the next three games, and with Michael Clarke being unavailable for the next game for personal reasons, I got the captaincy,” Smith said.

I am certain there were talks about him getting some offers even after the auction where he remained unsold. However, he got and took good advice which was about not damaging his own reputation which would have happened had he performed poorly in IPL. Ganguly was in similar position and yet he took the offer and talked total crap about how he will do switch hit blah blah. He turned out to be failure on his individual performances + as a captain.

VVS is no different than Ganguly, only that he was kicked out in the auctions itself. VVS always faked injury to drop himself, when he played for DC and KTK

Eh? VVS Laxman never complained about being a victim and did not make a fuss about being dropped. And now compared with Ganguly who was really the opposite.......

He went unsold in IPL 4 auctions and hasn't turned up ever since. He hasn't played any cricket except turning up for some Zimbabwe T20 team a year and half back. Nothing to defend ganguly here, he was below par and embarassin this season, but can't fault the man to be unprofessional. He played the Ranji trophy and iirc averaged above 50, as part of preparing for IPL and being in shape.
