In June 2014 , The Home Ministry reissued the code of conduct for ministers that was introduced by former prime minister Manmohan Singh. When it comes to accepting gifts during official trips abroad or from foreign dignitaries in India, the code of conduct allows the minister to retain symbolic gifts but divert all other gifts valued above Rs 5,000 each to the toshakhana. The minister would have the option of purchasing such gifts by paying the difference between the value as assessed by the toshakhana and Rs 5,000. PM Modi should follow the code of Conduct ,

If not for that Media highlighting the Pin-Strip, Modi wouldn't have auctioned it for charity... Why take chances? Why give ammo to others? Should turn down any personal gifts by random people... Now the guy who gifted the suit is going around giving interviews... Why take chances?

PM Modi should follow the code of Conduct ,What you have posted is regarding gifts received during official trips abroad or from foreign dignitaries. It is quite possible that this suit or its cloth was a personal gift which does not fall into this category.

If media hadn't created this issue, we wouldn't be witnessing the auction of the suit today... He does auctions his stuff periodically for good cause, many people know that... All I'm saying is that he is in immense media focus and he needs to be careful... It's these type of nonsense and bytes by fringe elements which is creating a bad image of him... I was also hope (against hope) that he will atleast reign in some vocal fringe elements, like Sakshi etc. If he can't do that due to political compulsions in UP then should effing deluge the media with news regarding all sorts of growth related developments... Instead of being on Frint foot, he's continuously being in backfoot... Soon he will embark on another set of foreign visit thus enabling opponents to harm him using 'thousands of small cuts'...
