When is a bowler Right or Left hand Fast ?

russel indeed bowled some deliveries 90mph
dude the point is average speed. When a bowler bowls a couple of 140+ deliveries in 60 balls bowled but largely stays around 130 it is different. If a lad breaks his back and bowls most of deliveries around 145 like Yadav or Aaron i think that is fast. I am positive both Yadav and Aaron average over 140ks so far if all their international deliveries are considered.

To be honest' date=' it just doesn't matter what you are classified as long as you have a good SR, average and bucket of wickets.[/quote'] yep true, but there is a lot of BS esp from pak that Indians do not have "geneuin fast" bowlers. I am not sure what that actually means for them, the westerners meant it in order to distinguish allrounders who are fast bowlers but bowl below 130 from geneuin quicks who average above 139ks. but for pakis umar gul who is slower than yadav and aaron is a geneuin fast bowler and so is aamer, i find it funny.

angelo mathews is right arm fast-medium but varun aaron is right arm medium-fast :cantstop:
thats the funniest bit, Aaron who has touched 150ks is listed as medium fast.. i wonder if this is a "kanspiracy " to make indian bowlers look docile, when they actually are not. Philander is not all that fast, he bowls at the pace of VK, but VK gets bashed everywhere, philander is a fast bowling find..:hitler:

It also depends on when the DB is updated/refreshed. It isn't dynamic.
yeah but there is only a limitted ammount of seasons when indian bowlers bowl fast...:((

This is actually a kanspiracy. Batsmen are known to go through the cricinfo page of a bowler before coming out to bat. And if it says anything less than 'fast', they no show respect That's why Indian bowling is treated so disdainfully :nervous:

it might have something to do with Philander having one of the best starts to an international career. Have you seen his numbers?

So the classification is justified to an extent. Honestly, IDC as I told earlier.

It is updated Before Aaron's debut, he was written Right arm medium.

On ICF' date=' pace > wickets[/quote'] This thread is not about the "best" bowler or about strike rates & averages. This thread is all about classification of pace bowlers based on their pace. So you would expect pace to supersede everything else in this thread.

It's not just about this thread but the general trend on ICF.
This I agree with. We are becoming more and more like our padosis with this obsession in pace and crying "fixing" after every IPL game

To all bone heads dissing this thread for prioritizing on pace rather than performance. This thread title speaks about When is a fast bowler called Fast and not Medium Fast, it does not speak about who is the best fast bowler or who is the best of the current lot etc.

now that kolkata has won, the fixing talk would recede :), its just when the csk win the indian fans loose their cool.

now that kolkata has won' date=' the fixing talk would recede :), its just when the csk win the indian fans loose their cool.[/quote'] But it's still a worrying sign that we are going the way of our padosis. I don't recall Indian fans crying "match fixing" after a match the way did this IPL. We used to crib about misfortune with the toss and maybe a few umpiring decisions but never match fixing but I guess times are a changing.

hmm but it looked like it, i was party to it. when DD made almighty stupid selections and csk ran roughshod it was a little iffy, but then KKR proved us all wrong or may be...haha anyways its over. Now i think we can include Sami Ahamed to the indian fast bowler list. The indianfast bowlers that rest of the world calls fast-medium

 Agreed
care to explain why it does not matter for sheer classification and adulation not to speak of the bragging rights. Per your logic does cricket also matter then ?
