MCcricket
On a pitch which is assisting seamers big time we have three below average trundlers in the team and one bowler with most promise, who can seam and swing the ball at pace cooling his heels, this is what is wrong with Indian cricket. At a time when India does not have any good bowlers who are in form or fit we are not even trying to develop a few, going back to tried and tested failures Unadkat, VK, B Kumar maybe if he develops his batting skills as we all have seen a 128 k bowler will not be very successful as a strike bowler unless you only play in NZ. jind
176 all out the Black caps. 4 for Unadkat 2 each for Rahul Sharma and Bhuvneshwar 1 for Menaria Bowling O M R W Wd Nb Vinay Kumar 9 3 18 0 0 0 Jaydev Unadkat 10 0 44 4 3 0 Bhuvneshwar Kumar 10 1 39 2 1 0 Rahul Sharma 10 1 32 2 0 0 Ashok Menaria 7.2 0 28 1 0 0 Abhinav Mukund 2 0 8 0 0 0 scorecard link: http://scoring.blackcaps.co.nz/livescoring/match1486/scorecard.aspx so used to watching replays when a wicket falls...missed one of the dismissals early on in the game and thought would catch it on the instant replay Link to comment
rkt.india
So why play him in the List A games here, when we already have given chance to him in ODIs in foreign conditions too? --- Haha, by that logic even Mukund shouldn't play the 4-day games since he's already played 5 games. Having given this exposure to Awana instead would have been invaluable who unfortunately was on A tour to WI but joined only for the last OD because of Visa issues! --- On present evidence, Awana has done nothing to prove that he is even marginally better than Vinay Kumar. We love hyping up players before they get an opportunity and then dissing them the moment they get a game or two. And had you followed the WI A tour, you would have remembered that Awana played the 3rd four-day game as well. So, basically he joined the team some 20 days before the last OD. Vinay Kumar in India A playing ODs is a waste of space in my opinion. Even FC cricket would be of no use because next year, don't think he has the quality to take on SA. But who am I to decide that? --- Vinay Kumar will do decently against S Africa in ODIs. At least, much better than the current crop. He is the only one in India currently who is decent in ODIs. Because Vinay Kumar is neither a youngster nor a prospect. Link to comment

CoverDrive
well in trouble but gives a chance to test out others so far Unmukt looked good and played out the opening spells. tried to be too aggressive and got out. Naman Ojha, Menaria did not apply themselves. One good thing so far has been everyone is looking ok against short ball - not afraid to pull hook Link to comment
